I saw it somewhere else, it's like air bubbles caught in the city draining system trying to get out, the pressure forces the cover off or something. I just don't get how it works either.... that must be one hell of an air bubble.

Who puts that huge of a man hole cover there? But it is from all the rain. I think in the comments some one said it was from a mountain or hill. Eh..wow just wow.

It's actually ommon for manhole covers to pop. Whent here is a sudden storm a storm drain can completely fill with water. All of the rushing water creates a lot of force whicch will shoot stright up the drop shafts and can hurl a cover pretty far.

One car stopped for him and then drove off and everyone else drove around him. I would at least given him a ride somewhere out of the rain.
