Head gasket question?

I have a built longblock 4G63t and I have mitsubishi's metal head gasket which has been in there for 2 years, and finally at the end of the summer i noticed my car starting to run hotter than normal, and then my car started to blow blue smoke. There are no exterior leaks between the head and block and I want to replace the head gasket with a cometic one. what do you guys recommend me doing in the machining part? Machine both the head and block? or just the head? I had the head and block machined 2 years ago and probobly put 15,000 miles on the car. I don't really want to take the motor out and disasemble it just to have the block machined agian. what do you guys think???

Re: Head gasket question?

The head and block need to be really smooth for the Cometic.

Re: Head gasket question?

Yeah, but if you didn't already blow a headgasket from poor surfaces, chances are you'll be fine with a Cometic. Blue smoke doesn't come from a bad headgasket. Just coat both sides of the gasket liberally with copper spray and retorque after a couple hours of road time and you should be fine.
