Re: On a quest to learn..
I tried getting jobs in car-audio install places back when I was in high school and they never call back, basically, you have to know someone who works there to work there. Just practice by yourself. if you want to build a wood box, use 3/4 MDF and a good tape measure and a nice table saw, woodscrews, elmers wood glue, choose an upholstry of your choice, and apply that with glue and staples, then you have a nice sub box. You can even get scientific and learn how to build an enclosure that will optimize a certain speaker for a specific frequency range. search amazon.com or barns and noble for a speaker-box design book, or car-stereo in general book.
If you were to take a class, you'd have to get a book anyway, so why not skip the expensive part and go directly to learning. I learned by myself by practice, and I have turned out some impressive stereos in my day.
