My cute new project
On Tuesday I'm getting a 1989 Honda CRX HF, for nearly free. I believe the curb weight is a little over 1900lbs. I needs a radiator, alternator, and a new battery. I'm already looking at ways to make it quick. I envision a B16, gutted chassis, slicks, fuel cell, maybe NAWZ, to make for a fun 15 second car hahahahaha.
I'll post pics tuesday. Oh, and there is only ONE rust hole

Bah, no need to lighten it. Throw a sleeve girdle on it, along with a T67 and supporting mods, and go race Busa's this summer.

Re: My cute new project
You think DSM are expensive. What until you see how much it is going to cost trying to put a B16 into that 89. You know it is not a drop in affair right. You will need to do engine bay modidfication to get the engine to fit properly and there is also fabrications. I don't think it is worth it if you are just trying to get fifteens. Good luck though on your project. I would recommend doing alittle research before you invest any money into this project.

Re: My cute new project
Actually HASport has mounting kits available for the 2nd gen to put B16's in them. They even have them for the first gen CRX's. It's even easier in the 2nd gen CRX HF's because they were multiport fuel injection from the factory where as the DX's were dual point injection. Less wiring changes to make.
How much rust does it have on the underbody? You could've bought my 86 real cheap. If you were thinking about swapping engines, mine was bad. The floor in it is solid.

But how much are you willing to pay to run 15's? Just joking I know he was joking about running 15's but if the body or the most important the unibody was in good a condition this would be and awsome build. I would not mind doing this project but remember one thing though. Once you are done building this project car lock it in the garage every night. Or you will wake up to a missing car. Every ricer around here loves Honda and B16 motors. Yes the cops also love hondas. Plan an hour every day for harassement from cops and going to court for stupid shit you did not do. Trust me on this. Cops love hondas and every time they see one you are breaking some kind of rule. Even if your car was park, you were speeding.

Re: My cute new project
Do a D16Z6 w/ a turbo kit, cheap and huge bang for your buck. I did one last summer completly stock motor just a set of head studs w/ our turbo kit on it @ 10psi and pump gas it went 11.9@113 all day and made 262whp/213trq.

Re: My cute new project
Like I said in your other thread. VISIT HOMEMADETURBO.COM . That's all they do is take old cheap honda's and turbo them using stock parts from other cars, cheap. Some of their shit looks ghetto, but that's how they are, cheap, and functionality. You can spend more time and make it better. Go check them out.
I've also been thinking about pickin up some old cheap civic hatch or sumthin and fucking around with it. We'll see though.

Actually, I don't think DSMs are expensive. Yes, I am aware it is MORE expensive to milk power out of Hondas. Heavy mods to the chassis? You mean denting the left frame rail to clear the alternator pulley and swapping the front hubs (For swapping a B16 into a HF)!? I'm glad you realized I was joking about the 15s! Hahaha, I just know I could sell this for more as is, or fix it and sell it for more! My dad has a Modded '93 hatch thats all riced out. It has been stolen before, and I am aware those kind of Honda issues.
I'm just pissed you assume I haven't done any research, or don't have some Honda knowledge.

Don't be pissed. I was just making sure you were aware of it. Most people will just jump in head first and find out that the project is more than they can handle. For example our colt GT project look like a 2k project turn out to be a 4k project and we are still not done with it. This is not including the price of the car. I see you know what I was talking about when it comes to getting the engine into the car. I give you props for that. Hey I am just here to help out and learn as much as I can. Thanks for expressing your true opinion. Like I said good luck with the project .

Re: My cute new project
If I were you I would talk to Tony from Hand Command in the cities (if its still called that). He loves NA hondas and had a CRX with NOS that was running really low 12s all day. You don't have to go the turbo route to make power all the time. They are light enough to be fast just on the bottle.

So true until you try to upgrade and find out that the engine bay is tighter than your highschool sweetheart.

Re: My cute new project
Eh, I don't even know if I want to put money in to this anymore. I'd rather go find a virgin 1g awd and play with that!! Oh well maybe I can use this as an excuse to slowly get away from DSM
