performance plan for the Tsi PART 2

This thread is a follow up to this one http://dsmstyle.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10231

So I kind do not want to upgrade my fuel system and play with the tuning and all that. So I came up with a different plan, here how it goes.

Manual Boost Controller. Hoping for 15-16psi

Upper intercooler pipes and a B.O.V of a 1g.

190lph fuel pump.

Boost gauge.

High stall TQ converter and maybe a shift kit.

Knock sensor light.

Now what changed from the last plan is that I'm keeping the stock turbo so I can keep my stock fuel system.

Would these mods be enough to get me into the 13s?

thanks in advance.

You could get a 13, but that would really be streching it.
The factory t25 can only go so far. I would say your vehicle (assuming its awd) would be somewhere in the 14-15 second range.
Jana, what did your car run?

because if that wont be enough, I could run 75 wet shots and that would be enough.

Instead of nitrous, why don't you upgrade your turbo system and fuel system, have it tuned professionally, and not deal with it.

I agree. Nitrous is a push the button sometimes kinda thing. Upgrading your turbo & fuel system is pretty easy & relatively inexpensive, and every time you push down that-one-pedal-on-the-right you get to use it!

17s all day long with a dropped exhaust

BTW, WTF dictates a need for another thread on this?

upgrading the turbo and the fuel system is at least $2K if it is done right, and I still have to worry a bout my tranny.
nitrous will only cost a bout $600 and if the motor is strong enough to handel the bigger turbo then it will handel the nitrous """I think"""

Re: performance plan for the Tsi PART 2

Beside all this, I was surprised that no one said any thing a bout upgrading the TQ converter which is a big push in the 1/4 mile.

Yes you'll need a torque converter.
A switch over to a synthetic fluid is recommended, a larger trans cooler, a endclutch kit, a shift kit, heck a built tranny if yours is going out is all "recommended".

2K if you're going to get a huge turbo and a really good fuel system. If you only want to run 13's with no plans of going quicker then you can always just get the 14b for like $300-400 and a 16G for a couple hundred more. And the S-AFC is only like another $300(avg.). Just my opinion. This is an auto, right?

In the first thread you made I said the auto tranny was hit or miss. I also said to look into the IPT trannys if you are going to try and make power and race the car. I thought the torque converted was kind of a given, just like a clutch you will need to upgrade. Also the tranny upgrades will still need to be done with Nitrous, power is power, but you will make more torque then just having a bigger turbo.

Re: performance plan for the Tsi PART 2

Here's a good option
-buy an evo3 16g for $450 or a used big 16g for $200-250 (there are several out there!) some 550's for another 200, and a used s-afc for $150-200

That's $550-900, depending on how well you shop.

But if you're all set on NOS being the best option, go for it. Let me know how you like it when your NOS tank is empty and you pull up to a light next to some dick in a mustang, you race, he beats you, and you say 'woulda-coulda-shoulda' Also, the stock t25 is extremely prone to failure, I'm sure there's plenty of other 2g owners on this board that can testify to that!

Just my opinion, do what you want!

Re: performance plan for the Tsi PART 2

He needs 2 big bottles by tonight. jk, but I would look into just making your car faster all the time. Nitrous can be good, can help a lot, and can destroy your turbo/motor. I would not look at nitrous unless you are maxing out your setup and need the last 50 or what ever HP to run just that little faster.

Re: performance plan for the Tsi PART 2

just go for a new turbo and fuel, your gonna do it sooner or later?

13s wont hold you over, trust me and like 50,000 others.

you will want something faster. Then your screwed with the whole nitrous thing.

All in all, build it right build it once. Build it wrong, build it again.

I agree 100% with you.
although I was not planning on moding this car at all until I read about how strong the 4g63 is.
