Park inside tonight
I went around asking people if they wanted 2 mint 1G white doors a while back. Nobody wanted them
Sure as sh*t, the day that they were thrown away, I get a call from my buddy Matt his car was broken into last night at around 1AM
His car, being stock, thankfully retained the security system, which was what woke him up.
he went outside, his window was broken, and nothing was taken.
There is no room in the garage for him, so he always parks at the bottom of the driveway, facing outward, on the right side of the driveway, and he leaves zero room on the passenger side, because he needs to give tons of room for his dads truck to get out in the morning.
His Dads truck has already hit his car and broken one of the rear backup lights. (drunk old bastard in a GMC)
Heres the interesting thing: there were no footprints in the snow. Nothing was taken out of the car (2 huge subwoofers, nice deck...cds....etc)
So he called the cops and filed a report ect......the cops said DUE TO THE WARM WEATHER WE ARE HAVING ALOT OF BREAK INs.
after all the commotion he tried to go back to bed, but he was too pissed off to actually fall asleep.
At about 3AM there was a late model dark civic parked outside his house next to his car, by the time he ran outside with his shotgun they were gone.
So keep your car inside, and IF IT GETS BROKEN INTO, park the darn thing inside after the incident. Dont leave it for the ricers to get into after the dust has settled.
his car is a 1990 TSi AWD, but it has a bright red coat of paint, and some bling-y 17"s, and the subwoofers are quite visible.
I have a dented up, dark green, GVR4 with stock rims and a cracked windshield, and the whole car is covered in black crap (needs a car wash quite badly) most everyone would think at first glance that the car is not even driveable.
But some of the other members' rides are quite pretty and are probably at risk. (JET, you might want to get guard dogs for that runway full of cars) Oh, this all happened by bass lake road and 494, so its a little south of where I live.....but you know those civics, they can go quite a distance on one tank of gas.

I don't even see what those ricers have to take, when they can't use any performance parts for their particular car anyway, let alone shit off of our cars..

Re: Park inside tonight
I wonder if it's the warm weather! In Yuma, AZ windows would shatter in the spring a lot. Come to work when it's cold out, shut the doors, windows up, then it gets real hot. All the cold air trapped inside warms up, then PCHSSSSS broken windows!!

Re: Park inside tonight
the temperature difference was about 20 degreess ~30 ~45
DSMs dont have tight air seals around their huge, bent, old doors
In AZ, the temperature difference was probably pretty extreme, being in the desert and all.
When I was in Iraq, it would get up to ~130 in the day, and 50something at night
But the windows in our humvees were getting blown up for entirely different reasons

Thats actually what those useless looking side vents are for on a 1G. If you look in there while you shut the door you can see the flap move to let air escape.

Re: Park inside tonight
They might been after his stereo system. I don't like to thump my system when I am 2 mile from my home. There are too many cheap dumb ass out there that will take what is yours. I had an incident back in April similar to your friends. I think I induce the problem myself. It was a warm day out so I took my car for a cruise. When I got home it was like 6PM so I prop my hood up so my engine could cool down. Well about 7 pm I notice a nice 1g driving in my nieghborhood. I thought it was wierd because I never seen the car before and it was the same color as mine. My hood was still proped up. So I closed my hood. I left the car in the drive way. At around 10 pm I was working in the garage on my wifes car when I heard a exhuast out side of my house. I open my garage and I saw a the tail lights of a 1G pulling away. To this day I park my car in the garage. I never saw the car in the nieghborhood again. Why can't people just leave other people's shit alone. Only if these little punks knew how hard it is to get a DSM up and running. No with six bolt blocks a little hard to find I really need to keep an close eye on my shit.
Sorry did not mean to hi jack the thread.

Re: Park inside tonight
Think about it, they drove by and threw something at the window to break it, then they kept an eye out for people and came back when the coast is clear to steal the stereo. Your friends mistake was probably that he turned the light on to find his way outside and when they saw that they took off.
Lesson: If you see someone fucking with your property dont turn the lights on, and make sure to go out the back door so you can suprise them. A 1/2" breaker bar makes a really threatening and useful weapon.

If they did throw something it would the old spark plug breaking the window trick. As for crow bar it would scare some people but a shot gun would make people shat in their pants.

I wasnt really going for the scare effect. There is no way I would shoot someone for breaking into my car, but I would pop em with a breaker bar. I am not going for death or major blood loss just some good ol fashon pain.
