Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
I guess I'd say good luck. I sorta got raped when I bought my car (read thread linked on previous page). That car is nice, but he's obviously selling it for a bad reason. I guess you could swap the entire harness out and put a good one in. That would most likely solve your problems. Just be prepared for hell though if he has halfassed anything like my previous owner did. Pre modded DSMs aren't done correct 90% of the time. They are halfass jobs. Good luck with your car.

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
This guy has bolt-ons galore and he doesn't know how to diagnose an alternator? ECU problems too? If you're not a DSM guru this car will be a money pit. If you're a novice DSM'er, you are much better off buying a running car and starting from scratch...unless you want to be part of the jackstand club. Hope you have plenty of tools and a garage to store a broken DSM.

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
Ok, I have my work set out for me, Im gonna try alternator, ECU and engine wiring harness and see where that gets me. I got the alternator unused for 45 shipped. Anyone has an Eprom ECU (socketed only no mods) or a wiring harness that is in working condition?

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
See if he will throw in a set of these with the car. They work best with four, one under each corner.

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
heh, well, despite what they all say, i think it's sweet and it should be simple to fix. i bet it's the voltage regulator on the alt. maybe a sketchy ground on the alt. that's all.

I have the wiring harness if you want to pull it out yourself and dispose of the shell.

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
Got one of those too if you're interested, but it already has a TMO chip in it.

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
TMO is the first person/company to start reprogramming these for DSMs. It basically has every feature you can program in except injector compensation.

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
What do you have programmed into the chip right now? I plan on tuning with DSMLink.
edit: I just checked out the website, they have some wicked additions they can do but the site says they no longer modify ecu's. www.tmo.com

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
It basically has everything on that website. It is a stage 3 chip. The only thing it doesnt have is valet mode.

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
Yes, all you need to do is unplug the EPROM and plug in the daughterboard from DSMLink. Then, put in the EPROM ontop of the daughter board. As far as how the EPROM chips work, I don't know. I think they give you a new chip that they've programmed along with the daughterboard and software.
