I'm more a fan of the polished 5(?) spoke wheels myself.

What is the Nash's bargaining skills? I like the car, now it needs a smaller pulley on the charger and like you said some exhaust work. From what I know if go down three pulley sizes you need the computer reprogrammed.

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned
Yeah you can send the PCM out to get reprogrammed for like 200 bucks, but you don't have to do that until you get a 3.2" pulley or smaller. For now I will just do some exhaust and a cold air intake. I have a bunch of people that want to buy exhausts once one is fabbed up.
I don't really care about modding it too much even though the stuff is pretty cheap and is readily available, I am kinda enjoying how quit it is and how comfortable it is to drive. Its not dog completely stock actually. Some new rims are definetly in its near future though.

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned
Its kinda hard actually, you have to be a real asshole to pull it off. Basically give them the lowest number you can come up with without sounding crazy and work from there. They will counter with something inbetween your offer, this may sound decent but its not the end of the road. Stick with your guns and tell them that you have already looked at many cars/trucks of the same kind and same miles and they were around the price that you offered. They will now bust out the NADA guide and tell you the book value of the vehicle. This will make their lot price seem like a good deal before the bargaining even starts. You just tell them that market value is a lot different that book value. If they stick to their guns with their offer tell them for that much you will have to go home and think about it. If he lets you get up you will most likely not get to the door before he reels you back in. He will then possibly ask you "what will it take for us to put you in that vehicle today". Now you will have to remember what you offered him previously. Now is the tricky part, take that amount and figure out the tax in your head (6.5%). Take the total of that and round it down about one hundred dollars and tell him you will pay X amount out the door. He will then go and talk to the big dog and ask him. He will most likely come back with an offer that is around hundred dollars more than what you just offered him. That is why you round it down, because they will most likely bump it up a little. You then take this offer and there you have it. Without even knowing it they will end up giving you the vehicle for around your original offer.
Now keep in mind if you are doing this with a vehicle that they know they will sell for full price it will not work. You have to be buying something that is most likely used and is not a rare or limited vehicle. Most likely they will not let you leave the lot if they know you are dead set on getting a car. Because the odds are that you will not come back.
The thing is about used vehicle that the dealership got in on trades is:
They already made their money when they took the vehicle in and sold the customer a way over priced new vehicle. They most likely gave them way less than what you could ever get it for and then made a ton of money off the new vehicle. Either way its a win win situation for them. Don't feel bad about offering them a low number beacause they already made their money off the trade.
This also does not apply to smaller dealerships. Usually their vehicles are already priced to sell so there isn't much negotiating to be done. Maybe a few hundred dollars give or take.

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned
I picked up a nearly identical car yesterday, '01 GTP, Black on black, 50,000 miles, except mine is a 2 door with polished aluminum 5 spoke wheels. It it GM Certified so I was able to get a killer interest rate (4.9% for 5 years). I'm going to put the milage to the test today as I'm leaving for Madison in about 2 hours. The only mods I'd like to do are a cold air intake and Sylvania Superstar (I think that's what they're called) headlights. I am so used to driving a truck and having my lights up another foot that driving this girl at night is a whole different world.

Not Superstar but Silverstar. They are great bulbs but for the money I like the Cool Blues better. I had them both in my Accord and could not tell the difference. They are way better than stock or any other bulbs I have tried except PIAA(too much money).

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned
Nice... reminds me of good times changing the supercharger out on one (well a different car but same motor)
if you think that is heavy try driving the buick ultra completely loaded
ohh and if you ever do change out the supercharger rember to draw a diagram of how the belt runs... ( ahh fun times)

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned
Damn this milage is going to be great! I would have averaged about 31mpg but it dropped to just a touch under 30mpg after I discovered that I had driven 20 miles out of my way so I had to catch up on lost time.
This is a buddy's website about his GTP:

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned
Nice find Jakey. I have had nothing but GOOD luck with mine so far, no problems. Its comfortable and gets good gas mileage as long as your not getting on it. I only have a CAI and PCM reflash on mine right now. I have a ton of shit in my garge waiting to go on it though. I just have to decided wether I am getting rid of it or not.

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned
i like the interior... it's the same as a 1990 pontiac shitpile i sat in once.
pontiac and GM are so wrong.. yet so right, they manage to have the crappiest cars on the road, yet sell the most of them (last year at least).

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned
If you ever need to know anything about fixing that car give me a shout my brother raced his GTP for 4 years before buying his BMW M3 roadster. His fastest time to date in the 1/4 was 13.5@101mph but it was primarily an SCCA car.
