No, it is a cold plating process. I just don't remember the brand name. Electro plating requires electricity.

Last time I went to Cedar Falls, I camped at the track in my Jeep. A little hard on the back, but cheap and it gets the job done.

Re: My progress...Part Deux!
Well, I got the car all put back together last night. I put fluids in and double checked everything. I went to start the car and it made about 1/2 revolution and then a hard metallic clunk. It stopped the rotation of the starter. My heart skipped a beat! I was able to turn it back and forth about 1/16 of a rotation before it would clunk and just stop dead.
After some investigation it turns out that the twin disk clutch is hitting my Taboo clutch fork. Not good!! Now I have to tear the tranny back out of the damn thing and either clearance the shift fork or put a stocker back in. Grrrrrrrrr.....
I can't work on it tonight, so hopefully I can get it going Tues. School starts on Wed., so that night is out. Third time having the tranny out is a charm, right?

Wow that is not a fun deal though, just reminds me what I got out of. Hope thats all that the problem is! Good Luck!

Re: My progress...Part Deux!
Dam! that sucks. I hate putting the tranny in on just ONE try. What's with the twin disk clutch anyway? What's wrong with a ACT or even better yet, a SouthBend clutch?

Re: My progress...Part Deux!
I had an ACT 2900, but was not cranked about the pedal pressure. My left knee is messed up a bit from a motorcycle racing accident. The twin disk is lighter pedal pressure than a 2600 by a ways and will hold more power than an ACT 3200.

Re: My progress...Part Deux!
Man, it only took me 2x to do my tranny, what's your problem man!?!?!
Mine was a flywheel resurfacing issue, it was a *bit* off of the .610 requested...by about .200...

Re: My progress...Part Deux!
Twin disk = more friction surfaces. Sort of like an automatic tranny. The more
friction / steel plates you have, the better the grab is because of the multiplied friction surface.

Re: My progress...Part Deux!
Yep, similar to a top fueler setup. They must have around 4 or 5 disks in theirs though.

Re: My progress...Part Deux!
Top fuel uses up to 6, that is a slipper clutch though, not to useful on the street. The twin disk is a good set up for people trying to make over 600whp.

Re: My progress...Part Deux!
Almost all motorcycles use a 6 plate setup.
Well, it took me 45 min and the tranny is ready to come out. Gonna grab some grub and go yank it out!

Re: My progress...Part Deux!
Well, I have some more news....
IT RUNS!!! YAY!!
Now I just have to put the axles back in, T-case on, fill the tranny and T-case fluid, and pop the wheels on! Unfortunately I won't be able to do it tomorrow as I have class, but I should get to drive it on Thurs! I am pumped!!
