Classified Rule Change Vote
Currently you can't post up a new thread in ANY of the Classified thread until you hit the 50 post mark and your status is updated.
Should this be left as is for both the for sale and the wanted sections or should I at least allow those looking for parts the ability to post up a wanted add right off the bat?
This will be decided by membership voting.
**Your Vote will be made public in this poll so that I can also gasp where more senior members voted. I'm sorry but 20 new person votes may just be over turned by 5 of the more senior member votes.**

Re: Classified Rule Change Vote
Man, tough call. It seems like there are new guys that come in here from time-to-time that are just trying to get that beat-up $500 dsm they just got running, and then we oust them for not having enough posts. I voted for the change, but I think it should be moderated. Any stupid want ads should be nixx'd with a quickness--at least hold them to being clear about what they want, what specifically it's for, etc. Just my $.02

Re: Classified Rule Change Vote
I say keep it the way it is. This structure has worked for awhile and I don't see any good things coming out of lowering the post count or getting rid of it all together. If you get rid of it all together then we will be flooded with people just selling shit.
If anything is done I would go with the 25 post thing.

I wouldn't change the rules for selling. That shit is set in stone. I would just change requirements for those lookig to buy something specific. Moderation would be firm and those abusing to sell items in a "sneaky" way would be dealt with.

Re: Classified Rule Change Vote
I voted not to change. However, if they want to buy something and you feel the need to change it, 25 would be great. I believe the rules were first established to achieve an active board, not a for sale board .

Re: Classified Rule Change Vote
If more ppl are allowed to post wanted ads, we can get rid of more of our crap that we have laying around which equals more money in our pockets=more dsm parts.... my $.02

That is what Im saying. Most of us are looking for quick cash when it comes to parts we have kicking around. I personally change setups often and like to unload parts and use that money to buy more.

Re: Classified Rule Change Vote
I could see changing the rules about posting in the Wanted section, but would there be an option to keep teh ability to start a thread in the for sale section to 50 but to allow people with a lower post count to respond in a For Sale thread? I have used PM's, but I got lucky in the fact that the person I wanted to talk to actually checked them. On other boards I have run into the promblem of people not checking their PM's. Otherwise I think you guys have a good system going.

Re: Classified Rule Change Vote
The post cound to actually sell an item would stay at 50. I think after a thread is posted anyone can reply to it. But only members at a certain level can actually start a thread in any of the classified sections right now.

Re: Classified Rule Change Vote
I actually found this site while looking for some parts.
What is the reason you have someone post 25, 50, 100 times before they can post a Wanted/For Sale ad? Well, you kinda wanna get a feel for the person before they try and run an internet scam on someone. Since the majority of the people are local to the Twin Cities, that shouldn't be too much of a problem since they're within driving distance for an ass kickin'.
Now the flip side to that is the people who have really bad grammar skills. Having to read 50 posts from them before they can post their Wanted/For Sale ad is torture for the people who have to read the posts.
If someone is new to the site and wants to sell something cheap or buy some of my parts I have laying around, bring it on. They can have 25, 50 or 100 posts, just bring cash.

Re: Classified Rule Change Vote
Even thought I have just recently joined I have been reading daily for about 2 years and have noticed a very clean operation here.
In my opinion I thing anyone should be able to post WTB ads but not WTT or WTS sell until they have established some sort or "credibility" on the site. Like said above, it gives the members who are able to sell more hits and helps people get rid of things.
I guess you could try it out and if too many people abuse the privelege just put it back to the way it was before.

Re: Classified Rule Change Vote
i think that a person should be able to post WTB when they want for same reason as above, so we can get rid of our junk and buy more parts. i understand the sell part of it because no one wants to get ripped off. but super duty had a point about being close enough for an ass whooping

Re: Classified Rule Change Vote
For us with shit to sell, having more people be allowed to post WTB threads will allow us more opportunities to sell our stuff.

Re: Classified Rule Change Vote
Thank to everyone for their opinons and votes. I'd like to get another 10-15 votes from some newer members as well before I make a decision either way.

Re: Classified Rule Change Vote
My vote goes towards keeping it the same. By opening up the WTB section, I can definitely see a number of newbie's stopping by, posting WTB ads, and never checking their ads again. Granted this is a smaller site, but Tuners used to have that as a huge problem until switching the classifieds to a closed format.

Re: Classified Rule Change Vote
I voted to change it, but I think it should be at 25 posts. Other wise I think we would have too many people signing on just to buy stuff. That's just what I think.

Re: Classified Rule Change Vote
Hi all, I just joined. In my situation I need to buy a DSM a 1g, I voted to change the status to being able to post a WTB. This is because I have been looking since July/August for a AWD and I have not been able to find a godo one in my price range, so for me I would want the WTB, also then once I have a car I can post a WTB for the parts I want to put on the car. This will benfit alot of people I think.
