Clutch problems. I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
Fricken A. I installed the tranny and the clutch and got everything installed and started the car up. The car starts up fine, but it wont go into gear and the clutch pedal is really hard to push in. I have an ACT 2600 Kit and I know it shouldnt be that hard to push the clutch pedal in. I'm so pissed off right now! I spent all this hard work and time to find out it was for nothing. Does anyone know what's wrong with it? I'm too pissed to keep on typing...

Re: I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
I'm too tired to take it back out. I'll see if QPR can take it apart and find the problem for me for a not-so-expensive price. My guess it the flywheel, I still dont think Kath re-resurfaced it CORRECT. Only when it's on is when I can't shift into gear. If its off I can put it into gear. I tried starting it in gear and all it did was jerk and die, so I'm sure the clutch isnt disengaged at all. I've spent 3-4 weeks and over $1500 on this damn project!
QPR, how much do you guys wanna charge me? All I car about now is getting the car fixed and over with. I have about $300 and if needed, I'll bum some money off my parents again (even though they were the one's who spent $1500 on MY car...That's why I love them so much )....I gotta find a way to get my car there also for a good price...What a horrible start to my year!

Re: I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
BTW, we have a pretty solid method of testing the flywheel/clutch/pressureplate as an assembly before it is put in the engine/tranny to make sure it engages and releases the disk. If anyone is doing a clutch, it may be worth the time to bring it down and make sure it will work before you go through al the hassle.

Re: I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
Hahaha...I wish I knew that before I did all this stuff. How much do you guys want to charge me to have my problem fixed? I really don't have the time to fix it myself anymore. Good thing I have some crap tranny fluid in it right now...I came by ealier to buy some Red Line Tranny fluid, but no one was there. I guess that was a good thing, heh heh.

Re: Clutch problems. I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
*UPDATE* I took my tranny off my car ONCE again. I feel like an expert now, heh heh. I took off the tranny twice before I got to drive it (I hope it's just twice ) Hmm..Raptor about that thing you were talking about up there. The method of checking to see if the clutch will disengage and engage properly...can I take the assembly in sometime to have it checked...I'll need the flywheel's step checked also, if that's not going to be a problem. I hope to get everything set right and have my car running by mid-next week if possible. Oh yeah, where have you guys been. I called the shop yesterday and today and no answer...went to the shop yesterday and the doors were locked...what's up? Are you guys open after 7:00 tomorrow evening? I'll be working for the next few days, so it'll be hard getting to the shop. Just let me know if it's okay and otherwise I'll just have the flywheel re-re-resurfaced by Bumper-to-Bumper or Napa. I'm in a much better mood right now...that I have the tranny out and can start over and fresh, heh heh... Gotta go eat now...I'm starving...

Re: Clutch problems. I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
another *update*->I went to Napa and they measure the flywheel at .610 so it's not the flywheel that was causing the clutch to not disengage. This is frustrating me so much right now. Does ANYONE know what might be the problem? I want to get it running by tomorrow and ANY help would be nice....PLEASE!

Re: Clutch problems. I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
Look at your pressure plate carefully and make sure that none of the fingers are sprung. I just had a similar problem with my car, turned that the clutch disk exploded and some of it got lodged in the pressure plate where I couldn't see it. Put it all back togethre and it wouldn't shift. Pulled it back out and could tell right away that the pressure plate what fucked. If you have another one lying around that is good put them side by side, sometimes the difference is hard to see.

Re: Clutch problems. I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
Well, if you want, bring the pressure plate, flywheel and clutch disk to the shop and I will make sure they are all good so you can eliminate them as the problem.

Re: Clutch problems. I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
Raptor, can I take it to the shop tomorrow (Sunday)? Would I need the assembly screwed on together or just bring the PP, Disc and Flywheel without the screws. My original plan was to have everything back into the car by the end of that day. I was reading on tuners about guys with similar problems and they said something about removing the fluid accumulator and welding 2 nuts to the lever that the Master Cylinder screws into. Would this solve my problem also?
Craig, I have a brand new Pressure Plate...so I dont think the fingers are off. But I'll check just incase, I need to figure this problem out soon...

Re: Clutch problems. I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
First we can eliminate the clutch itself then figure out what else might be causing the engagement issues. But yea, bring the assembly with bolts, we don't need the flywheel to crank bolts, just the pp bolts. Sunday is fine, give me a quick call right before you head out.

Re: Clutch problems. I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
If your flywheel measures out fine, your PP isn't obviously fucked up and your disk is new, you should have no problems. Did you adjust your clutch pedal and properly bleed the system when you got the clutch in? I think you're missing something small here.

Re: Clutch problems. I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
The flywheel is fine (had Napa check) new PP and disc. I dont think I bled the system nor adjusted the pedal. I didnt know how to so I didnt try, didnt want to screw anymore stuff up. I hope its just something small...but with my luck right now..it's not.

Re: Clutch problems. I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
Um... you probably wasted your time pullin the tranny out again if you didnt bleed the system after you installed the clutch, and you definetly need to adjust the clutch when going from a stock clutch to a aftermarket clutch. Those 2 things could be your problem.

Re: Clutch problems. I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
I dont think RSmotors adjusted my clutch when they installed the ACT 2100, so I didnt think I'd need to adjust it with the 2600 either. Yeah, I hope I didnt waste my time. I'll have Raptor take a look at the assembly just incase.....since I have it out anyways. My So-Called-Mechanic cousin told me it was the flywheel and ONLY the flywheel, so I took it back out. He doesnt believe that it could be anything else. Now he doesnt have the time to help me put my tranny back in...lol.

Re: Clutch problems. I'm F****D! HELP!!!!!
Have you checked your master cylinder to make sure its working properly? Just because you have pedal pressure doesn't mean that it isn't bad. Since you have everything out I agree it would be a good idea to check it all over again. But like Steve said I think you are missing something simple here that will solve your problems.
Also just because you 'think' somebody else adjusted your clutch doesn't mean that it stayed that way. You can't just assume because someone else did it that its not the problem. Check to make sure your clutch isn't adjusted wrong, that could very easily be your problem and your going to kick your self in the ass if you do find that out. Check the obvious things first and then go from there.
