Cheap parts for beater

My DD is basically dangerous in its current state. Obviouslly, I need to change this. Thing is, i'm hella-poor and need to spend my money incredibly wisely. It needs tires, shocks, a caliper, and a catback/02 sensor weld.

What's most important here? I only plan on getting it through spring. I was thinking tires and brakes, and exhuast if i got any left over.

Anyhoo, where can I find some CHEAP 14" tires? They can even be slightly used for all I care.

As for the exhaust, I plan on buying a universal 'normal' muffler ($20 at checker) then having an exhaust shop crushbend a pipe, connect it to my cat, then weld muffler on (and weld 02 sensor back on).

Brake caliper is $50 reman at checker...good idea?

Overall, I think I can do brakes, exhaust, and tires IF and only if i find the tires cheap enough, so it all hinges on that.

On my old beater celeberty the exhaust was gone after the cat as well. What I did was cut the cat off with a sawzall and got a universal muffler that just barely slipped over the pipe where that cat used to be, clamped it with an exhaust clamp and used some mechanics wire to hold it up. Looked like $hit but it worked

For the tires just go get a used set from a bone yard, they will probobly sell you a set of used 14" tires for <50 bucks as used tires aren't worth much. Get the caliper from the junkyard if you can too, they may be hard to find one in better shape than yours but most gm models should be similar so you should be able to find some car that has a decent caliper on it.

The O2 sensor you should buy new, they are a bit expensive but they will kill your gas mileage if thier bad so it will pay for itself quickly. Just let the shocks go, for a winter beater it shouldn't really matter unless your trying to play jr. drifter with it

If you dont mind somewhat used tires, theres a auto recycle place in St. Paul, on the corner of Western, and Minnehaha. They sell used tires for $10-$25. I cant remember what the place is called, but there's a sign outside the lot saying used tires for $10.

Good luck.

You pick the worst times ever Dane...I'm working from 1-5:30. Since they're so cheap, can ya grab some 195/75R14s (or close) if you find them? They'd need at least half tread left tho. I could pay ya back today.

As for the other comments, thanks for the help so far. I was thinking of getting a caliper at the junkyard too, but figured I'd really have to dig to get one in decent shape. Maybe not though - I could at least take a look around.
