Damage to pistons ?

I picked up another 7 bolt Block for my car, and Noticed that the pistons look like the valves were hitting the pistons at some point in it's life. There are little scuffs on the tops... How bad is that. I didn't get a compression test done before the motor was pulled. But it was a running car.

Little dings in the tops of the pistons won't hurt the car unless it's making serious power. If there are marks in the pistons then there is/was undoubtedly damage done to the valves.

well the damage isn't from the head that's on my car. And as long as it won't effect my head. I'll through it on there.

I have to have my car running by the time I leave. And I don't want to slap it all together to have something go wrong. I just don't have the time for something like that to happen.

Smooth out the dings with a scotch pad so you don't get hotspots.

If you follow Steves advice, spend a lot of time with a vacuum to make sure you get everything out. Scotchbrite and it's dust is abrasive. Don't use an airline to blow it out, it will get in between the rings and make things worse.
