Is sure to follow!!
I had the top outlet of my radiator break on friday at lunchtime (in the drivethru of Taco Bell). Well I got it home on the trailer friday nite and morked on it a little yesterday.
Well I had to go into work today so I borrowed Terina's car. I worked pretty much all day and just before I was going to leave, I went out to the car to get something. Only to find a trail of coolant down the parking lot. At first I thought the waterpump seal went out (usually leaks when the car is shut off). I pulled it into the shop and it was leaking while it was running so I figured it must've been a hose or something. It was coming from the oil filter area.
So after a little investigation (about 30 seconds) I found it to be the long oil cooler line. We went down to Napa in Savage (burnsville) and got a length of hose to repair it. Basically the oil leak that she has finally swell the robber hose enough to make it split easily.
So the moral of the story, always be on the look out for something ELSE to go wrong when something goes wrong on one of your DSM's.
BTW, anybody have a radiator for a 1g I can buy??????????????

Unfortunately I would've never seen the radiator problem coming, even with preventative maintainence. I kinda knew in the back of my head that the hose on Terina's car would eventually go but I didn't think it would go this quickly. The last time I checked it, it wasn't as mushy as it was today. Oh well.
I still need a radiator though.

Well, I own three dsms now. None of them run. One is a parts car, I have a laser for a winter beater (will not run very well), and something broke on my talon (possibly 5k mile old b-shaft belt. Makes noise but still runs). Atleast yours are small problems. I haven't driven my talon 2000 miles this year.

Well to update things a little further, we had another "coolant on the ground" experience on Monday. Terina's co-worker came in and told her she had a puddle of something under her car. Of course it was anti-freeze again. We looked around for leaks but couldn't find any. We figured the thermostat was stuck shut and was pushing everything out of the reservoir.
Well, tonite we investigated it further and found one of the coolant lines from the turbo to the thermostat housing had a pinhole leak in it. Well, luckily I had some extra hoses laying around with just the right bend in it. So now we get to wait to see if anything else pops up. I think we're going to replace the thermostat, gasket and radiator cap this weekend anyways so they are done before winter.
Sorry, just had to rant a little. Too many coolant related problems lately.

2 dsm's aren't many... We have 4 at our house now. A 95 AWD, 92 AWD, 91 AWD, and a 90 Laser turbo FWD. Currently none are driven on the street. The laser drives, but we might change things and that will most likely be down also.

The point was that these are the only two cars we have. These are our daily drivers, not just extra cars that we have bought and have cluttering up our (or our parents) yards.

They were daily drivers except for the 91 which is more or less a parts car. Now they aren't since they are broke. They will be again once they are fixed. The 2g walked, the 92 just lost a bearing, and the 90 still runs.

We have 4 DSM's in the driveway too (well one didn't make it back to the driveway) and 3 of the 4 are dead. 2 of those are daily drivers.
My red car has also been going through coolant hoses like crazy. I blew an upper, then a heater core hose, T-stat housing hose and now it just blew an oil cooler coolant hose. The only problem is that when this last one went the water pump cracked or something, grrrr.....

Yea... I have 2 DSMs as well... and last Tuesday my "reliable one" (teh N/A laser) dumped its guts out all over I-35 I left an oil streak about 150' long as my oil housing seemingly desintigrated... ironically this happened only 1 day after my father's Mitsubishi expo microvan broke down.. heh come to think of it now, in our yard, we have 2x broken 91 Hyundai sonatas (mitsubishi) now 2x early 90's Expos (mitsubishi) 2x 92 dodge colts (mitsubishi) and now 2x broken 1g DSMs (mitsubishi) yes, thats right folks, a total of 8 fkn broke mitsu products within the past 2 years :headache: At any rate think i'm going to buy a mid 90's Toyota truck and use it as backup (and to tow all of my broken mitsubishi products around ) What is stupid is that I still like Mitsubishi...

One thing that I learned, is that once one of your coolant lines go, you should replace all of them (especially if they are the original factory lines). When I had my '92 AWD Talon, I had 4 lines break within about a month. It would have been much less of a headache if I had just changed them all at once. Oh well, live and learn.
I'm back down to one car for now. But lucky for me it's a slow underpowered Nissan, so it should run forever. :goodluck:

John fixed his shifting problem by adjusting the petal so it is right on the floor. He has another problem now.
