Well I bought some used rims that were in really rough shape. 17x7 so I said what the heck. I sanded them all down with power tools and stuff. Got down the the bare aluminum. The relective surface is not polished aluminum it it crappy chromish paint that corroded after 2 years (shitty finish).

Once they were all sanded I primed them with etching primer and waited a week or so... then I painted them with alot of metalic silver wheel paint. After that ther are lots of coats of clear for that portecive glaze.

I probably put 20+ hours into these things to say a couple humdred bucks. LOL I dont know if ill do it again but it turned out.

Here is a bunc of pictures in series from when i got them to when i put new tires on them - Azenis ST-115 225/45/17. YAY

Daaaaaaammmmmnnnn, those turned out great. I figured a little work would make them nice, but that's better than I would've expected. Good job.

that's really nice. I'm not to experienced in painting but I'd love to learn. Did you have to do like wetsanding between coats or anything like that or did you just put some coats of paint on and a bunch of clear? Just curious.

Definitely looks nice, maybe should take some time and work on my corroded rims. Definitely sets a standard for do-it-yourselfers like us.

Thanks for all the compliments guys!

As for the painting basically I had them all clean and sanded down to bare metal in most places, aftet that I put like 3-4 coats of etching primer on them. Waited the appropriate time for them to dry totally. After that I painted one totally with the silver paint (no more sanding required) I put maye 4-5 coats of silver on and then had to wait 1 hour before the clear (both the silver and clear were special "wheel" paint so both worked with each other -duplicolor wheel paint at autozone or red rooster. So after the silver set in I put 4-5 coats of clear coat on and that was it. I waited maybe 2-3 weeks before I got the tires on just so the paint could cure some.

The allan heads were a paint in the arse. They are fake so you cant take them out- I tried that and one came out- had to glue it back on. SO I had even more fun putting small peices of tape over every single allan head so I would over spay onto their perty chrome color.

Oh well they look nice so its cool.
