External Hard Drives

I was talking the other day with a guy on my floor about how I'd like to clean my computer up and find some place to store a lot of the shit on it, specifically music, and he suggested I look into getting an external hard drive to put all my music & videos on. Does anyone know anything about external hard drives, pros/cons?

I personally prefer them. I have a nice rack full of 10,000 RPM SCSI drives myself. It keeps the heat down in the case as well as making replacement and upgrade easier.

Do they make cases for any external hard drives that are all "decked out" like a number of the tower cases that are out there?
