Im a dsmer again!

Well Tonight i purchased Greasemonkeys non running dsm. Needs a bit of work but im sure i can turn this into the cleanest 1g in the United Arab Emerates.
Thanks Stephan for the great deal, i look forward to making her hum again.
Never thought i would see the day when i would be back with another DSM, let alone a 1g. But im excited for what lies ahead.
Couple things on the to do list:
- Fix the rod cap issue and replace the rod bearings.
- Clean up interior, put back in the rear seat, replace carpet with brand new stuff.
- Replace Windshield
- Fix the fenders.
- Repaint dark gunmetal
- Injectors and Link
- clean up engine bay more.
Eh theres lots more to do, but i love doing it.
Tom

Rod cap issue, wtf? Sounds like motor-pulling time dude.

Better make this into a project thread quicklike!

We will see on saturday what we are looking at for damage. Ive been two years without a dsm so im ready to get my fingers dirty with the permadirt.
Im hoping that the bearings saved the crank from any damage. but wont know anything until i pull the pan. Regardless its nice to have a truck in case i need to make a trip to MAP 4 or 5 times....

Congrats! Welcome to the wonderful world of 1g's. Sure they won't get you laid, but everyone knows they're faster.

Get some pics up!

Tom, don't forget to make sure you set it to 5* BTDC

HA HA HA. Yeah i have made mistakes in the past that have ended up bending many of valves... at least i learned some valuable lessons.
Here are a couple:
- Torque the tensioner pulley to the correct amount. its not supposed to be floating around.
- 5* BTDC is not to be done physically with the belt, its to be done on the ignition with a timing gun.
- Dont leave the socket wrench on the crank pulley and try to start the car.
- Both Dowel pins on the camshafts should be pointed UP. (On 2g cam gears the exhaust cam gear has two white marks. )
im sure there are many more lessons i have learned along the way breaking shit, so i figure i have made every mistake their can be with a dsm so this build should go perfect.
