Rally Cross
So I have briefly talked about this with a couple people from the board and a couple friends, and wanted to see if anyone else does or is interested in doing a little rally cross. It's seems like some good ol fashion fun in some dirt, where are dsm's should be..haha. So yea chime in about the subject, I'm planning on running in the next event.

Re: Rally Cross
I'm planning on photographing the next event (as per usual), unless someone is willing to let me share their car.

Re: Rally Cross
My 1g is ready and tested, did a little back dirt road driving, and it's running great. Need to fix my passenger window motor (by fix I mean swap in a new one) so I can keep the inside of my car clean..haha. Have a set a blizzaks that grip the dirt nice too.

Nice dude... you're better off then I was at my first event, I just ran all seasons. I'll be there, so your maroon 1g won't be alone

Re: Rally Cross
I want to do it, mostly because I'm confident that I'm a better driver than the majority of the Subaru tards out there, but driving off road is not friendly to a lowered car.

I'd almost have to agree with you... I beat a surprising number of people (subarus), and i've only ever done 1 driving event before that; the autocross novice clinic. I don't claim to be a driving prodigy or anything. You'd probably do really well.

Re: Rally Cross
I'd say an event where there surface is relatively smooth shouldn't be too bad. People were talking about the Corcoran site at the last event, and I would feel comfortable running my car there, it's nothing but pea gravel.
The Canon Falls site isn't too hard on cars, though.

Re: Rally Cross
Well, if anyone wants to share their car with me for a rallycross event I have my stock Evo wheels with snow tires on them.

I've thought about that, but it's a lot of work just to school some wanna-be rally drivers for an afternoon.

That doesn't seem like that much work... There were also some lowered WRX's out there.

Obviously the people at the top are going to have skill, I think Matt D was probably more referring to your average subaru driver

Even Rally drivers can get beat out. ABV (mark) beat out Mark Uteck in his old Prepped Scoobie with my 1G, basic mods and rally tires. Club/Pro Rally is one thing, Rally Cross is another, if you know you're car well enough, you're gold. I think Dizzle would do just fine. I'm looking forward to the day of being able to get back out on the courses again, maybe with another 1G, maybe with a little something else.

Haha, then I am nowhere near going to win. I couldnt care less though, I am going in with no course racing experience, except for the occasional dirt road racing (which doesnt count anyways)...so yea, who cares if you win or lose, its just about getting dirty...lol

Re: Rally Cross
You'd have to mark exactly where they were at, plus it would take probably about an hour to do all four, twice. Not something I'd do for fun, that's for sure, just getting them set once installed was enough for me.

why do you have to mark it? Is it important you get it back to the exact same place? I've had cars with coilovers, it wasn't usually a big deal to adjust them. Just easier if you jack up each corner as you're doing it.

I assume alignment would be off if you put them back to a different place. I guess it doesn't have to go back to the *exact* same place, but I'd want it pretty darn close.
