Re: Automatic Transmission

With the amount of work involved in a transmission swap and the HUGE CHANCE that you will have to replace the used unit you install, I would consider having your current transmission rebuilt.

How much do you think it would cost to rebuild the transmission?

Re: Automatic Transmission

1000-1500 depending on what you do...I am generally unfamiliar with Automatics.

There are automatic DSMs that are fast, you can support a huge turbo without losing spool between shifts

Streetfire has a vid of a streetable auto 2G w/GT42R that pulled hard to 120mph. In the video you couldnt tell when they were shifting because he didnt have to lift to shift.

I would not do a stock rebuild, find a company who can do a performance rebuild, like shep does.

Look around, use google, and if all else fails, email shep, he will know who does a good automatic race rebuild.

Re: Automatic Transmission

I have a 92 AWD Auto tranny sitting in my garage that I'm trying to sell with transfer case. Give me $100 and you can have both. The tranny is missing the overdrive cover, but you can take the one off of your old one and put it on there.

What seems to be the problem with yours?

Re: Automatic Transmission

My tranny goes through all the gears but the rpm's seam to go up pretty high and it seams to take a little time for it to shift up into a higher gear.

Re: Automatic Transmission

Not sure on the mileage. I could probably find out. I bought it from a member of this site a while back when my now ex-girlfriend had a 92 AWD Auto.

BTW, your car isn't maroon, is it?

Would you be able to check out the mileage for me. And do you know if it works well?

Re: Automatic Transmission

It worked fine when it came out of the car. The guy parted out the entire car.

The only problem is you are in Brookings and I'm 30 miles south of the twin cities.

Re: Automatic Transmission

I'm having my transmission looked over this coming week. If the problem is that my transmission is starting to go ill have to make some arrangements with you and i could possibly make a trip out there to pick up the transmission.

Or a meet in the middle somewhere. I'm open to almost anything.

Just let me know when you find out.

Re: Automatic Transmission

if you go through with this, save the broken transmission, and when you have the money have it rebuild as a preventative measure, IMO installing a used transmission is a bad idea...

Re: Automatic Transmission

Or if you wanted piece of mind, you could get this tranny and have it rebuilt. It's a good tranny so it would probably only need a slight bit of refreshing. Probably would cost you less in the long run. Then keep the old tranny for parts down the road for when you bigger with the HP.

Re: Automatic Transmission

The mechanic that i go to checked over my transmission and said it seams to be fine. but i would still like to buy yours if you still have it. Im planning on rebuilding that one with racing parts. I will be willing to drive out to your place and pick it up.
