Looking at bikes.
So I stopped in at Heinens Yamaha in Osseo, looked at a few bikes and just wanted to know what the bike people think. The 06 busa is only $8999.xx, but I do not think thats an option. I have riden an 05' R6 and full throttle 1st or 2nd gear was quick but did not scare me. So I would like a bike that is fun and easy to ride, fuel economy and price are what I am looking at. Also I only want to buy one bike, none of this easy-into BS. So what should I look for, what wears out, what needs to be watched, what dealer ship is good, what companys make the best/worst bikes. I do not plan to mod the bike but what about extra stuff, warrenty, jacket/pants/boots, helmet, etc. Here is what I saw at the place

I plan on a good down payment and finance the rest, thanks

Re: Looking at bikes.
Gsxr 1000 or a Newer Yahmaha R1
if you get a 600 you'll just get bored with it like you did your talon and gvr4 and want to go faster

Re: Looking at bikes.
Yamaha YZF-R6, GSX-R600 or 750, Honda 600RR. Those are my favorites for the smaller sport bikes. If you want crazy fast... R1, GSXR-1000, 1000RR...
Are you set on buying brand new?

Re: Looking at bikes.
I am "set" on a 750 or 1000cc bike for sure, but the 600 would be best for mpg I suppose, and brand wise I have heard good things with Suzuki, I am open to what ever though, I am not to worried about cornering to much, but some twistys at some point would be fun. I like straight line speed, thats why I checked out the 06' busa(not sure on miles), it was the same price as the 07' 600, crazy deal it looked like. Used, I do not know what to look for, how many miles do the motors last, clutch, tranny, chain, breaks, tires, suspension, what is the life span of these parts? Any dealers people have good luck with? Also break in I have heard a few things on this but not much, I would think 0 miles is the place to start? I will read into everything more over the week and post what I find, thank you.

Re: Looking at bikes.
Make sure the bike was not dropped or dumped. It could wreck the frame. Take some one who knows about bikes with you. Also if you are set on a busa buy an older on like an 04 and save yourself 4 K. Busa's are nice but is more of a touring bike than a fun to ride bike.

Re: Looking at bikes.
I be looking for a bike now too with the gas prices being $3.30+ around here. I'm looking for a 600-750 to start with. Rocket of course, unless I find a deal on a XLH 1200 Harley. I'm hoping to only spend ~$3000 on this as it is a "first" bike. I'm not totally new to riding 2 wheeled things as I've rode BMX for a while and various Dirtbikes.
Anyone looking to get rid of something?
96+ preferably. not looking for a robo-cop style ride. r6, gsxr's, RR, etc..

Re: Looking at bikes.
I suppose a 600 whould be a good bike for the MPG and turning.

Re: Looking at bikes.
I would go with a GSXR 750. Great bike, not real expensive and plenty of power. I rarely get to use 50% of the potential of my 1k and wish I would have gotten a 750.
I got my bike from Larson's in Princeton, great prices and service. You could also look for left over '06 bikes. I know there are a few '06 1k's around at a good price.

Re: Looking at bikes.
I'd also suggest a GSX-R750. Either '06 or '07. They have the same frame as the 600, just with a bigger motor. In my opinion, it's pretty difficult to get all the potential out of a liter bike on the streets. It's more than most people need. Plus, with the 750, you'll get cheaper insurance rates. I had an '06 600, and it was a really fun bike. Cornered like nobody's buisness and was plenty fast for me.

Re: Looking at bikes.
yep, the 750s dont have enough torque to get you in 3rd gear wheelie trouble. but they do have a crapload more grunt than a 600. I think the 06 models trap around 138 in the quarter.

Re: Looking at bikes.
Noah ran a 10.9@132 at Rock falls this year. He may have gone faster as well, but that was the best run I saw. GSX- R750
But for some reason, I am a diehard Honda bike fan.

Re: Looking at bikes.
Almost all Honda bikes are boring, just like their cars. They do their job ok, but don't give you a good feeling about it. The Kawi 636 is a good bike too and has a bit more grunt than a 600.
