Classified Section
I want to clarify a few things regarding the new classified procedures we are now using.
For those of you that don't know, your thread has to be validated by an Administrator before it will appear. I try to view these as much as possible so that your thread can be viewed. We do not just leave them and forget about them. So I don't need a ton of PMs asking if your thread has been approved. If it is legit, then it will get approved when one of us checks them.
Another thing to keep in mind is that when the thread is approved it will not show up in the new posts usually, so you might have to physically check the classifieds to see new posts.
Also please make sure that the threads that you are submitting have everything spelled right and are easy to understand. I don't want to have to correct your spelling and punctuation like this is 1st grade. If you are new, read the rules regarding classified posting. If you follow these simple rules your post will be approved.

I was going to ask about that. Is it ok to just bump a thread right away so it doesnt end up all the way down the page with just 1 view?

Re: Classified Section
I guess thats fine, I was more hoping that people would just check the classifieds on their own and don't rely on them showing in the new posts. I am not sure if there is a way to make them show up in the new posts or not after they are validated.

Re: Classified Section
Can't you, as a mod, bump it when you verify it?

I understand why you are having this approval Check before the post goes up, but sometimes it does take like a few days in a few case's to get your item posted up. Anything you guys can do about that?

I've had one instance where a thread of mine did not show up so I PM'd Allan about it. He apologized for not approving it and it was live within 5 minutes. My suggestion: if your thread is not showing up, PM one of the Powers at Be.

Re: Classified Section
For the time frame the only real time I think it will vary is on the weekends. M-F they are checked daily, often 2-3 times a day if not more. It's a process that will take time for everyone to get used to.
Just a little heads that stage 2 of the classifieds revamp will be that they won't even be viewable by those with less than the require post count. Although this isn't set in stone yet, we do like the idea of it.

Re: Classified Section
I am testing out a few things on permissions and looking to remove the post moderation for a period of time and replace it with a setting that ONLY allows someone to even see the classifieds section if they are:
1) logged in
2) have 50+ posts
Until those are both reached we won't even have a classifieds shown on the site.
This is currently only for a short trial period and any thoughts and questions are encouraged to be posted/asked in this thread.

Re: Classified Section
I don't know about anyone else but the only reason I used this board was to look for a DSM in the classifieds section since it is the closest local board I can find.

Re: Classified Section
I hate to burst any bubbles but that's the main reason I'm trying a few different things here. We don't set this site up as a local parts trader and I try to make sure we keep scammers out of the forums by making it a little extra work.
How hard is it to reach 50 posts on a forum? In most cases it's just being active for a week or so. Post up a few question, an intro, reply or post up new that's current or interesting, ect ect. Just don't make 50 posts with less than a full sentance cause then it's post pumping and you'r bye bye
