ECU socketing
Is there anyone else who knows how to socket an ECU as well as Eric (lighningGSX) and also do it as cheap?

Re: ECU socketing
We are $50 to socket a eprom ecu. (with a DIP socket, more if you want a zif setup).
$30 for the chip, burned to your setup.
So, $80 total.

Are you guys doing ECU repair as well (ie-capacitor replacement)?

Re: ECU socketing
We could do capacitor replacement. We just want to do MINOR ecu repair as a sub-service to the community, since it appears Eric has retired.
Not sure on how long that would take us, I'll talk to the guys.

What's the difference between the DIP and zif setups?

Re: ECU socketing
Zif sockets are easier to put the chip in and out, but they cost more.
Just depends upon how often you are going to tune with your eprom ecu. If you are just having us setup the ecu for a global injector correction, we recommend the DIP socket (thats why we stock them).

No, once I set this car up I won't mess with it too much. Did you get my PM?

Re: ECU socketing
Are you doing ECU repairs? You kinda didn't give much of a definate answer. And if so, what would the turn around time be?

Re: ECU socketing
We really aren't doing ecu repairs, as there is so much other 'shit' that could be wrong. None of us here feel confident with anything more than an eprom chip desolder, socket install, and some chip burning. We could also do ecu capicator replacement, but replacing damaged components is somewhat iffy.
Best option is bring it buy, we'll tell you if we want to attempt it..or send us a hi-res picture.

Re: ECU socketing
What kind of stuff can you do with a chip? just global injector adjustment? anything else?

Re: ECU socketing
Timing adjustments, fuel map adjustments, stutter box, Rev limiter adjustments, idle speed adjustment, 2g mas compensation. That's about it.
