I have seen ads in car magazines saying they can chrome plastic so it can be done.

You can have a hard plastic piece chromed, but not a flexable vinyl.

It has that fake look to it, but what completely chrome car wouldn't. I think it may be a legit picture, pretty hard to fake the reflection in the right color that way. The trees look pretty much right on as does the road in the doors etc.
