Computer Gurus!

Ok I know that we have some computer gurus on here and I need your help. I have a cybertron computer that I got last year for christmas and love it! I hate my net connection but what can I say its free (my dads network). Well for about the last month or so whenever I go to download it takes just as long as usual so I usually DL stuff over night but lately when I DL a clip all i get is the sound of the video I am trying to DL. The sound is fine and goes on for the enire length of the clip but I just don't get the video part or I just get the first second or two. I use to work fine but now it doesn't and the computer is only a year old. I know that I have 32.2 out of 38.3 gb of free space on my harddrive so that can't be it. Can someone please help cause no I can't DL the wrc highlight vids that I found (they sound really cool but sound isn't enough for me. Esp w/ rally :rally: :rally:

What OS are you using? What sort of media player are you using? What type of video are you trying to play? you may just have to update the CODECs or adjust some video settings.

I run windows. It doesn't matter what type of video I try to run none ever work. And I use winamp to play them. All the ones that I DL before still work fine in winamp though.

I can't help you there, I've never had much luck using winamp for anything but MP3's.I would try using windows media player.

check for updated codecs first

Go to www.divx.com and download divx lite or the lowest version of it (free and no spyware). When you are about to install it, click to just install the codecs and you should be good. If that doesn't work, make sure to do your windows updates and run windows media player and check for updates on that as well (should be included in the windows updates but just to be sure). There's also a program that I used to have that contained all the codecs you would ever possibly need in a single install file. I forget the name but I believe it was something like nemo or something to that affect (or I'm way off).
