Did you get pulled over on University tonight?
I saw a 1G what looked like a TSi pulled over by a cop down on University tonight, I was just wondering if that person is on this board.
Plus I saw this pretty nice looking 1G with a big ol' front mount at the Wendys down by Porky's, just curious if the owner of that 1G is here as well.
For reference, I was the white 2g GSX with my ricey halos and chin spoiler.

Mighta been, Didn't look too closely at the rims. Was Parked next to an SRT4? Looks like a pretty hacked front bumper. Either that or was cracked up pretty good.

Yeah, that's probably Rich. He has a yellow SRT4 also. The paint is kinda chipped up front I believe, the bumper shape is fine.

Re: Did you get pulled over on University tonight?
yeah, thats my pile of 1G that got pulled over, I was tryin to get that blue Tsi and the evo to take off, they knew there was a cop in the neighboring parking lot, but I didn't, and so I rolled on 2nd gear, and got his attention, with my super loud custom pipe, he wrote me up for "Excessive Acceleration" I still say, who says it was "excessive" but apperently he did. oh, and don't diss my mazda rims on the back, haha.

I got pulled over on 35 e, my car all of a sudden started to die the headlights dimmed and the car had no power at all. I had to turn the headlights off or the car wouldnt Run. I got pulled over in a matter of secounds. I was just trying to get off the highway so he didnt care and told me to get off. I got my car into big k and it wouldnt restart. I had to get my car towed 25 miles at $5 a mile and and 115 to flatbed it. Now I am out $230 dollors and my car doesnt run.

Well they left my poor honda alone, even with the loud-ass belt squell. Two of my buddies got their sentra's impounded though; sucks for them.
That was the first time i've been up there in a LONG time, it was kinda neat for me to see everything there. LOTS of DSMs (but even more rice =\ )

Re: Did you get pulled over on University tonight?
Or just jump the car and pull the battery terminals off and if the car dies then you know its the alternator. The car should stay running the alternator power alone. I would guess its the voltage regulator in the alternator is bad. But before you go and get a new alternator check the alternator fuse. I think on 1Gs its a 80amp.

Re: Did you get pulled over on University tonight?
I was down there in my uncle's GTO. I got there a little before 9 and there were hardly anyone down there, so I went back home. I'll be down there every once in a while ONCE my car starts go run. Not looking forward to a ticket...so I wont be down there every weekend. I heard there's TONS of people down there too.

Craig, you don't want to do that with a computer controlled car. You can screw up the ecu that way.

Do what? Pull the battery terminals with the car running? News to me, I have done it tons of times with no ill effects.

Re: Did you get pulled over on University tonight?
On older cars it's fine. It can damage the ecu's in newer cars. Ask any certified mechanic.
I used to do it on my older cars as well.
If you can charge the battery, charge it up and drive to the local service station or autostore. They have a load tester that can tell you if it's your battery or alternator. And if your battery goes down before you leave, they can charge it for you so you can get home.

Where does everyone from here go if they do go down there? It would be nice to match the S/N with a face...and car.

Re: Did you get pulled over on University tonight?
I would do the quick and easy check with jump starting it. I would jump it, and take the jumper cables off the car after it is started. If the car dies, then it is the alternator as the battery doesn't have any charge.
Or you can go to checker and they can perform the test for you. I did that and hardly made it home. I would rather do the quick test in my garage.

Re: Did you get pulled over on University tonight?
Yeah, but he's talking about taking the jumper cables off, not the battery cables. Little bit of a difference. The system remains grounded properly with the battery cables still attached. But I won't go off on a tangent anymore about it.

Re: Did you get pulled over on University tonight?
Yea you can mess up alot more than just the ECU if you have aftermarket electronics wired into your system because they will be getting power from the ecu or wiring hooked up to the alternator but not from battery sources. My car has quite a few wires coming straight off the battery and I wouldnt pull those off with the car running.
Just have checker load test your battery and also check the alternator.

I sit at Porkys. We used to sit at the checker but they were over run with VWs and other gay things.
