shifter cable adjust....who's done it

my car shifts like shiot, part of this i believe to be that the clutch enguages too close to the floor, but even more i think the shifter cables adjustment is suspect.

i don't really know which way to go, i remember coming across a vfaq type thing on how to make them perfect, but i can't seem to find it now.

anyone?

edit: after looking at the vfaqs again, it looks like the preferred method is to take the cables off of the shifter, and adjust their lengths until they fit over their posts EASILY, hmmm

That should work. I usually just adjust the cables till the shifters straight up and down
