Another old Honda guy here.

Probably the main relay under the dash. Or possibly a loose connection somewhere. Could also be a faulty igniter on the distributor. Need a little more info on what it actually does when you turn the key (ie. what sounds does it make or not make).

If it cranks but doesn't start, check the distributor cap. They tend to get a build up underneath them. Clean it out or get a new cap, rotor, wires, plugs, fuel filter and air filter. That way you have the full tune up done. And maybe do an oil change at the same time. That way everything is fresh and new and you can begin the maintenance schedule knowing what has been done and when.

Congrats. You now have a car that you know (once you get it running) will run when you DSM breaks. It's always good to have a backup.
If you need help working on it, let me know. I have lots of spare parts laying around including an entire 89 DX engine (that still runs, a bi-product of an engine swap) to pluck small parts from.

Put the ignition in acc position and listen for the fuel pump prime, if you don't hear a whine from the rear seat for a brief second, somethings up. I agree w/the main relay too. You can either re-solder everything and you'll be set or get a new one from honda, parts stores do not sell this part, they all carry "relays" but not the right one.

If you are looking for a spare engine (for parts or whatever) I have one that I want to get rid of. It's out of an 89 CRX DX (same engine that you have there). It ran when we pulled it out of the car that it was in. It has some oil leaks. We swapped in a ZC engine (DOHC without V-TEC).

I'll look, I may have the intake hose. I'll let you know if I can find it or not.

You should sell him your white one. You really need to get rid of all those spare cars you have laying around, but keep the laser of course!!!

So where did you buy the main relay? You removed it from right above the hood release lever right? I'm just curious, I went to three different places and no one had it.
