Coolant Resivor Tank

I've had my coolant resivor tank removed for quite some time and now I can't remember how it goes in. I looked at my manual/old pics of my car and cant get a clear picture. Does it fit tight into that side bracket? I have an idea of how it goes, full/empty faces in radiator a little and that little bulge at the top faces the radiator too, or am I completely off?

It slides down on a metal bracket along the frame. It only goes on there one way. There should be a groove in one side of the overflow bottle.

The bracket must be messed up then. thats what I was trying to do but it doesn't even fit. Time for some jerry-rigging.
