I finally got some tuning in on my car a week ago. It took some 110 octane to get rid of the knock. I let the car sit a day and fixed the oil leaks (turbo return line and VC was cracked by dumbass I trusted to tighten it down by hand). After fixing them, I started the car and brought it up to opperating temp. Checked for oil leaks and there were none. I decided to take the car out for a quick spin as I was still on the 50% race gas mix. While driving down the block I hear a clicking noise. I pull over and check it out. The noise seems to be coming from the intake side of the VC. It sounds like CLICK..CLICK.. CLICK. Not lifter tick but something else as if something was rattling around. I pulled the VC to see if I could see anything loose. I checked the torque on the head studs and looked for any stray particles. I couldn't find anything and everything looked in place. I put the VC on and here it sits. The noise seems to be RPM based. Seems to come on around 2k at very low throttle and during midrange. The car was fine the night before. I dropped my fuel pressure back down and brought back my SAFC settings down for pump gas which didn't help. The head was rebuilt and put on ~100 miles ago. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, John.

After putting a new head on my talon it wasn't runnin right and had a ticking. Turned out to be on rocker wasn't on there perfect. It was kinda turned to the side a litle bit and just needed to be reset on there correctly.

Thats always possible. You should make sure it isn't something hitting inside the timing cover as well, could sound like it was coming from the head in that case.

Thanks, I'll check those today. I pulled the upper timing cover off and I didn't notice a difference. I will try the lower also.

Could be something in the timing cover but what would it be? The timing belt couldn't be rubbing. The B-shaft belt is only ~5K old. Someone want to come listen to the bitch? I am sick of the car.
