So as im trying to figure out stuff with my shifting problem, i decided I might as well ask about this, as it has always bugged me.

Basically, I can pull my shifter up and push it down with a play of about 1 inch overall. It was like this before i did the clutch too. Also, do some cars naturally have a very "loose" shift feel? Hard to explain, but when it's in 1st it looks like it's in neutral, and when it's in reverse it's very far back. In each gear, you can move it side to side about 1/2 an inch. Frankly, i've never liked that, and it seems weird compared to khad's stock shifter. Compared to mine, he has very shoft throws, little to no play, and has a very different feel then mine does.

Do some cars just vary, or do i have a problem?

First of all, conquest shifters have a really long throw b/c they are basically a truck motor/tranny.

Also, Conquests have quite a bit of play from side to side, I don't know if you know him, but reids conquest had so much play that when it was in first gear, you could move the knob all the way over to where it would be in 5th gear.

Also, if he did a burnout, the shifter would hit him in the knee.

He got solid tranny mounts and it solved all the problems except for being able to push the knob down into the tranny, he is still trying to figure out wtf would cause that.

Either talk to him and see who made his tranny mount, or call stedebani and get his poly mounts, they are like $99 if I remember correctly.
