Gsx budget build

I figured I would finally make a project thread. I've met a lot of you guys while working on this car. it has been a uphill climb all the way. I found the car in Milwaukee. the guy had it for sale for around 2500. he had it "painted" took the engine out to do the timing job, then never was able to get it running so he decided to sell it. [/LEFT]
turns out his "mint no rust" description was far from the truth.
I ended up picking it up for 1200$
it came with:
3 turbos.
wideband
3 inch exhaust
what made me want the car was it was mostly untouched and from the pictures looked a lot cleaner then what it was in person.
so I sold my old rust free 99 gst. kept the 2.3 motor (eagle rods/cp pistons)

would love to hear your guys comments and tips and tricks

Re: My gsx project

began the tare down and process to paint my gsx. all I had to do to get that motor running by the way was reconnect the starter relay

went with 2 stage. all in all was 188$ shipped to the door.

that's the finished product.

then the very next day, the unthinkable happened!

Re: My gsx project

I found a 420 rs that was t boned, pulled the hood and leather interior and a few misc parts.

started gutting out the gsx

I can not stress enough how much of a budget build this was! every part that was used or swapped or anything that was purchased was all because of selling and trading my collection of parts and misc things I had. theres a lot of things i wish i could of done better or differently , but money was a huge factor :/

Re: My gsx project

while installing the interior I decided on cutting a couple inches off of my shifter

I actually really like how it turned out, its a bad angle, but it is a lot shorter

Re: My gsx project

swapping in the dash was not as hard as I thought it was going to be.(before i painted the car, door jams are now black as well)

I dyed the carpet black as well. this is a pic of the interior before i pulled it.

Re: My gsx project

one of the coolest things I did to the car was using the empty fog light holes to route extra air to the radiator

I did this on both sides.(like I said before, "budget build")

Re: My gsx project

some more ghetto rigging :P

Ended up losing my reservoir tank and crazy enough a Gatorade bottle is the same size and seals well

spent a lot of time in junkyards to get parts and things for this build. today saw something I thought I would never see at the junkyard!

they were hanging out wanting to shoot a video of some kind in the yard,

Re: My gsx project

time for some carnage!!!!!

I had this 2.3 for awhile and already rebuilt it one time before(spun a bearing at db)

well a buddy of mine was giving me a hand with my car and we needed to jack it up, he put the jack on what he thought was the front engine mount support.

long story short the intercooler was pushed and damaged and caused metal to go through the intake.

Re: My gsx project

the timing belt also snapped on me with that motor, so now im running a pretty much stock 2.0. I did a bse, swapped my cams in, 3g lifters, running link v3 with e85. s16g and 1600cc injectors on density.

Re: My gsx project

It was. But then I decided I wanted to keep it. I was asking a crazy high amount hoping no one would be intrested and scared away by the price.

Its a love hate relationship. I really want to go 2.4 twinscroll hx40. But before that theres alot of work that needs to be done.
