Garage Project
So the garage project is nearly complete. So its time to post some pics.
First the before:
for some reason i dont have pictures with it cleaned out after we moved in, The colors were Smokers White (aka was painted white but was smoked so much in there that the walls turned a yellowish) and Pink cabinets and trim: YUCK
Now the after:
First Repainted the ceiling white, and did the walls grey and trim/cabinets black. Put new hardware on the cabinets (a brushed aluminum look) and new door handle.
Phase two was the epoxy floors. I prepped it as well as i could with etching fluid and scrubbing the hell out of it and keeping it clean throughout the process. Filled all the cracks with cement filler.
I then taped out the Mitsu Symbol on the floor adding an inch to each side for overlay (thanks andrew (asshanson) for giving me the calculations the other day )
Then started mixing a gallon, I did a dense Black White and Metallic flake with the grey base, and after that was good i started doing the third stall to not waste the paint.
Waited 2 days and then finished the rest. The rest of the floor is a black white and blue flake with grey base and loosely sprinkled.
Overall i LOVE the outcome. I still have to put the clear coat on, which should make it totally shine and give it a water look as well as smoothing out all of the lines and sealing everything in.
Enjoy!

Re: Garage Project
Looks good. How long did you let the cement filler dry for? That's one thing that killed my coating after a year, didn't let it dry long enough, and a year later started bubbling/chipping away the coating

I let it dry for 5 days before going over it. It hardened pretty fast and dried out, but i made sure that i etched before throwing it down and then did the water absorption test (put a drop of water on the concrete and it should absorb pretty much right away and not bead up) before putting down the epoxy. There was some pits still, but i made sure when i was doing the epoxy to do a circular motion over the pits to get the epoxy into them, and when i go over it with the clear it should even out the pits and make it more smooth. :fingers crossed:
thanks for the comments people, Im really happy with how it turned out, it looks better than what the pics show. I wasn't sure how the logo would turn out as they don't really cover this in the instructions and tell you to keep a wet edge, but it blended really well into the dry stuff. Oh and the reason it looks lighter in some spots is due to me taking the pictures right after finishing. It did that on the first part i did, but then blended really nicely the next couple days after.

Re: Garage Project
Cool, yeah I had etched prior to doing it as well, but only let the cement filler dry for maybe 2 days before painting. Hopefully it works better for you than it did for me.

Yeah, i am hoping the Premium clear coat helps keep the chipping and peel ups away. Im going to give it a good 7-10 days before driving on it due to the colder weather.
Also the box has a no peel guarantee, so if i see a peel they will be getting a call. (heard on line that rustoleum has good customer support where if you see problems with color or peel ups they send you however many kits you bought so you can redo the entire garage, one value pack (2.5 garage), one single pack, and two clear kits.)

Re: Garage Project
So, i went outside after work and looked, There are two shades of grey.
Basically i had two kits, one was for a 1 car, and one for a 2.5 car garage. They must have been from two different batches of paint at the factory. So i called rustoleum and their support told me that what i needed to do is mix all of the bases in a big 5 gallon bucket and then pour the bases back into their cans and seal them up, then activate one at a time.
They stated that i will need to reapply the entire area because there will likely be a color difference again if i apply over the darker area. So they told me to go to home depot pick up two more kits and then send them the receipt for the kits and they will reimburse me for the extra kits i needed to buy.
Sucks i have to redo this but good that they are standing behind their product and paying for it. Hell at least i get double the protection. hahah.

Re: Garage Project
Nice that they stand behind their product!
That should give you plenty of time to build a 3 legged work bench!!

They were probably making meth in the garage!
And why redo it? You will have stains on the floor soon enough so who cares? Are you obsessive compulsive?

Im not obsessive compulsive. but when i invest this much money (one 2.5 car kit, One regular kit, 2 premium clear kits, rollers, pan liners, tape, it adds up fast) and time into it i want it to look perfect. Who cares? I care. I care because i know that whoever walks into the garage is going to be like "Whats with the two different colors right there?"
Plus it will also help fill in some of the pits that are natural to most garages that havent just been poured.
It actually wont take that much time to redo the mass of the floor. maybe a couple hours. The main time consuming part of the project was doing the Logo and letting that dry before continuing. and im not redoing the logo part.

Re: Garage Project
The Mitsu Man Cave is done. Yesturday i applied the second coat of Epoxy that Rustoleum paid for. And today i put on the clear coat. It looks really nice. I will take pics in a day or two when its completely dry.
