Looks good. Did you do a boost leak test?

Re: fmic install on 2g gsx

My 2cents on the kit: It was the one of the cheapest kits on ebay that wasnt a universal. It came with all needed hardware to install including Jpipe, aftermarket throttlebody elbow, bov pipe, and a pretapped nibble pipe for a boost/vacuum source. The kit says that it requires cutting of the pipes but we found that untrue. Once we figured out where each pipe went we didnt need to cut any of them. All the pipes were beaded on the ends so that a huge plus in my book. We had 45* pipe left, 2 couplers, and a bunch of t bolt clamps, left over. from the looks of it those extra pipes are there in case you have a t25 or t28 and the kit still bolts up to those. So im impressed that the people puting the kit together covered all there bases and included everything in the kit. Anoter nice thing is it came with a free BOV. Its a knock of so its only temporary, but its nice because when you get rid of the stock piping on a 2g you dont have a bov to use so this will hold you over till you can buy one. I took a jigsaw and cut the crashbeam so it was just the top piece and mounted the intercooler straight to that. It allowed everything to install securely, easy, and even. I thought the kit was very well made and put together. Very convenient because it had exactly everything you needed gaskets included. two thumbs up in my book.

the package

Tearing out piping and AC

Poofys Awesome drilling job straight into the radiator

Poofy in all his glory

The new piping

Gotta love a free knock off BOV, its temporary, but at least its better then the plastic stocker

All done

Just having some fun

Nice work cutting the bumper too. Why did you remove the radiator to install the fmic though? Or did you do that because you drilled into it?

Re: fmic install on 2g gsx

well when he drilled into it, there really was no choice so it was pulled. before this install there was rips in piping and so many leaks and problems this was great matinence. i did boost leak test it but i think the wastegate might need replacing cause i think its leaking

I had the same kit on my 1g laser. Worked very well for me, and even the crappy knock off did okay. Looks great!!

Congrats on the intall. But how would a wastegate have anything to do with a boost leak test?!? Unless you mean the vacuum line to the wastegate.

Re: fmic install on 2g gsx

i think the ebay one has internal damage, and sounds like air is coming from the rod. and its over boosting for line pressure

Re: fmic install on 2g gsx

hit fuel cut last night and I know I saw 17psi. Pretty sure it went higher but was trying to watch the road at the same time. Scared the crap out of me when it cut!

Yea I guess if the diaphragm was broken in the wastegate acutator, didn't think of that. I was picturing an external gate for some reason.

Yeah, I've had the internal diaphragm rip before and there is no boost control and you got a big boost leak. I might have one for ya tomorrow poofy if that is in case the problem.

It looks like that flange will accept a 1g BOV? If you need one, I've got a crushed BOV that held 20psi for me.

Glad to hear good things about the CXRacing piping and intercooler. That is who I have been planning on ordering from for the sled.
