New Wakeboard Gear!

This is my 3rd year wakeboarding. I've been riding a Hydroslide board this whole time. It's more of a beginner board though, and pretty cheap. It's definitely done it's job though, which for the most part was getting me up out of the water and learning the basics and just letting me have fun and enjoy the sport! We bought it at first just to learn with at because if I ended up not liking the sport then it wasn't a huge loss. Well turns out I love it to death.

So after 3 years, today I finally decided to upgrade to a . Took a trip to The House in Little Canada. These guys are great. I bought my snowboard from them a few years ago and they are so helpful.

I went there during lunch today, not having a clue where to even start looking. 30 minutes later I had a board and bindings that I'm very happy with. And since the board is and bindings are 09 models, well I ended up saving about $100 on the board, and $200 on the bindings.

Can't wait to try it all out this weekend! I'll still be keeping the old board though as a "community board" for those who wanna ride but don't have their own. I'm going to be kinda selfish on my new one because I don't want it damaged, or the bindings stretched out from other peoples feet.

The board looks like it'll be much more fun to ride. But my biggest thing is the bindings. These things are SOOOO comfortable compared to my old ones. I love the bindings. The crazy colors I'm not a huge fan of, but I don't care. They were $400 bindings they sold me for $200, and hold me nice and snug while still so comfortable!

Here is the new setup:

Liquid Force Witness 136 3-Stage Rocker Board
Liquid Force Shane Bonifay open toe bindings

Peter, ready for some post work boating extravaganzas again?!!!

Nah never been there. I like The House, so I guess I've never had a reason to venture anywhere else.

Your buddy is friggin good, ha. I'm nowhere even near that level. I'm still just mastering the wake jump.

Re: New Wakeboard Gear!

Brandon you should try Wake Skating as well, its basically a regular Wake Board with grip tape and no bindings, you put on Wake Skating shoes. I started out in bindings but now only Wake Skate, its a lot easier to control cause you can put your feet however you want on the board (similar to Skateboarding). But Im sure you already knew all this.

Yeah one of the guys we know up on Ottertail got one last summer. I never tried it, just watched him do it. I may try it some day, but for now I'm going t stick with wakeboarding I think. Do you have one? I think it'd be fun to try. Just getting out of the water seems like it'd be tricky though.

Re: New Wakeboard Gear!

Yeah I have both types, its just as easy to get out of the water as regular wake boarding, the only tricky part is holding your feet on the board in front of yourself while holding the rope, once the boat starts pulling you (idling) the board sticks to your feet and then getting up is just as easy (if not easier) than regular.

Trust me, it seems weird but I guarantee you'll like it more once you try it. Like I said you can put your feet anywhere.

Re: New Wakeboard Gear!

Very nice B! I haven't been wakeboarding in about 10 years, my back hasn't been able to handle it for a while. I keep meaning to get back out and try it since my buddy just bought a 2011 Master Craft X-star with every option for wakeboarding, plus he's got the latest, greatest gear to boot. I think my back is probably good enough to give it a try again, I was decent at it back in the day.

I did try surfing behind his old boat a few years ago, that's definitely a trip if you're not used to it.
