type rs bov spring

i know this is kind of a noob question but i just picked up a greddy rs bov and have it vented to the atmosphere for now. But i know that the type-s bov has two springs and people usually remove the outer one. does the same trick apply to the type rs? Just wondering because i still get flutter at some point no matter which way i adjust it. All help is appreciated! thanks

Re: type rs bov spring

i dont think this is even a big deal just heard that flutter is bad for the turbo, not trying to blow anything up. But i got a recircualtioon kit on the way, still wondering if removing a spring is neccesary.

Re: type rs bov spring

I have the RS, have never remover a spring and it worked just fine at 23psi without any flutter. Are you sure you tightened it?

Is it new? If not than maybe the diaphram isn't in good condition.

Re: type rs bov spring

ya i tightened and loosened it. i mean its not a ridiculous amount of flutter but it is definately still there. i was messing around with it in cub parking lot for like an hour just adjusting it then doing a 1st gear pull across the lot til they kicked me out.:P i got it to probabaly the best i could it seems like high boost (20psi) is ok sometimes but then there is more at low boost, and every now and then i can still hear it at high boost

Re: type rs bov spring

Are you getting flutter at Wide Open Throttle? Or just when you are off the gas? I used that blow off valve for 4 days right out of the box, it worked well when i used it.

Re: type rs bov spring

both, like when its wot and its full boost it flutters only like once or twice but when its lower it flutters like 3 or 4 times. i dont know, my recirc kit should be here today, so i know its gonna need to be different with that. When you had it how much boost were you pushing?

i was running anywhere from 20-25psi. Do you have it hooked up right? how Many vacuum lines do you have hooked up to it? If you only have one hooked up, which port are you using top or bottom? Aren't there two different nipples on that one?
