Child killed at Monster Jam
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...ruck-show.html
I feel for the dad who was sitting next to him when this happened. Also, a thing that bothers me is they didnt stop the show until people just started leaving the stands after this happened.

Re: Child killed at Monster Jam
yea i was there last night also. it's scaryto hear this because we were on the bottom section with my friends 2 year old.
as a kid i was hit by a chucnk of metal by one of the trucks that came to a small event that our town used to hold. this has happened more than once its just nothing is ever more serious than a bruise so you never hear about it. people have been knocked out by rocks and such before also

Re: Child killed at Monster Jam
The last time I went, it was one of the first years of it and there was only two trucks, and they only went over cars at about 5mph. There was nothing to worry about back then, it's obviously pretty different now. Although you could get hurt at any motorsports event. I can't imagine losing my son, that would be devastating.

Re: Child killed at Monster Jam
Sounds like something in the drivetrain (driveshaft, axle, etc) broke apart and launched into the crowd. Sucks that someone died, but shit happens. Reminds me of the CART wreck at Michigan International Speedway in 1998 when an entire wheel and hub assembly launched into the stands on the front straight.

I can agree with that. Sometimes shit just happens. I saw it on the news and the people that put the show on said that this is the first time anything like this has happened.
I went to one when I was about the same age as the boy that died and I will say at the time there was only one thing I had seen that was better....Macho Man Randy Savage body slamming Andre the Giant. I had a blast, I wore ear plugs and I wasn't right in front. However, the place I saw it at could hold MAYBE 5,000 people. People are so quick to blame or sue and fail to realize sometimes things just happen. Being a spectator you have to assume those risks could happen. No event like this will ever be 100% injury free.

Re: Child killed at Monster Jam
We were at the show on Saturday (2nd row) and I saw this when I got home. I was like wtf, then I saw it was the Washington show (they had 4 shows in Washington that weekend)
There have been deaths at these before, usually from the trucks driving into the crowd. That is why the have the renote kill switches and blue plastic on the 1st 10 rows of seats.

Re: Child killed at Monster Jam
Yet another person died, just this past weekend in madison, wisconsin. This time I guess it was an announcer, who walked in front of a truck and was crushed, as if he didnt see it. I'd post a link, but I'm on my phone, and it sucks...haha.

If ever you have a family member or a close friend die right next to you, please allow me to quote this when you are crumpled in a drooling stupor on the floor because of your misery. It'll cheer you up!

Re: Child killed at Monster Jam
Yea, Matt that was a little harsh wording. Audience members should be safe at these events. I can understand the drivers getting hurt, but they need to take better precautions to keep people safe. Put up plexiglass in the first few rows, or something.

I read he only wished he had knocked on wood. He should have found some.
