Well, I put insurance on my car for this week, starting today, since AJ and I both had places to be.
Before AJ leaves I ask him to start my car and take it for a spin to make sure everythings ok. Of course, since I let it sit for 3 weeks or so without starting it, my car was dead. We push it out into the driveway and were going to bring the truck over to jump it. Well, due to the length of my jumper cables we determined the car would be better. So AJ drives the car up on the lawn (lol, sure the neighbors loved that!) and we try to jump my car. Took forever and it finally turned (it was also a little flooded). He moves his car off the lawn and parked along the street.
Then we have some issues with my shitty alarm. I think we fixed it for the time being (yes, I'll be in touch with Eric about getting something new or fixing this one soon).
Then we figure it's good to go so I can get to my appointment this afternoon and he needs to head out. So I go inside, and I start doing some housework, but notice AJ is still outside dinking around in the car. Then I see him pop the hood and get out. I'm think to myself, great...what happened now. His car was dead. So we get the truck and jump that car. Finally get his started....
Do you think someone is trying to tell us not to go anywhere today????
I really hate my battery. I have the Optima red top, and I would never get it again. For $130 bucks, it has not held up to what I thought it would.
Sorry for rambling, just thought you guys might find some humor in this.

I will have to add that the truck started to overheat while we where using it (on going problem and main reason, along with bad tranny, the truck is in storage as well. Then the 1.8L beast overheats on my way to the shop.
What a day

Damn, that sucks. I have a optima red top that is 11 years old and still works great! I love them. I am not sure what is up with yours. There is a pretty good sized power drain coming from something if it died in only 3 weeks.
Good luck guys!

Yeah, I find it strange too considering I have nothing really hooked up to it. No subs, etc.....
Maybe mine is a "lemon" battery.

No, I think breaking a couple mirrors about 6 years ago is what has cursed my luck.

Between a couple buddies of mine and my brother I think we have exchanged 10 of them Optima red/yellow top batteries in the last few years. Doesn't really bother me cause Red Rooster exchanges them with out the receipt for us.

i have an optima redtop that has been sitting in my 1G for about 8 months and the car has not run once in that time. It still has a charge and lights the interior lights. They have a lifetime warranty, go get a replacement.

Actually the Red Top is for daily driving, and the Yellow top is for prolonged sitting ....
snipped from optimas site..

For example, if your customer has a Ford Expedition with an after-market alarm system, which OPTIMA would you recommend? If the customer drives the car every day, the Red Top would be the correct choice, since the amperage drain will be nominal and the battery would be recharged on a daily basis. However, if the customer stores the vehicle for a long period of time with the alarm system engaged, you should recommend the OPTIMA Yellow Top, since the amperage drain over several weeks would damage a Red Top and reduce its life.
