Future Cruise Question
I'm already working on getting some rough ideas setup for the Spring Cruise and I'd like to post a poll and have people give me their thoughts. Please only answer if you have attended or plan to attend a future cruise!
The question is regarding meals, mainly lunch on Saturday. Would you prefer to keep it how we've been doing it where you order off a menu and pay separately or would you like to do a catered group lunch? We did the catered thing on the S2000 group cruises and they always worked out really well. The cost for the catered group lunch would be included in the registration fee, but figure ~$10/person extra so it shouldn't cost people any more or less than a traditional menu lunch. One of the reasons I like this idea is to save time and just make everything easier and smoother since everyone will be paid in advance so there will be no splitting of bills or paying with cards to deal with. The catered buffet would have plenty of variety for everyone, including vegetarian items.
Anyway, the results of this poll will help determine what happens in the spring!

Re: Future Cruise Question
I'm up for anything. Doing something like this for the sake of organization is a plus, it'll help with our scheduling and should give us more time to do other things.

Re: Future Cruise Question
Game on for a catered buffet, we've yet to do it and I think it would be a great option, provided the venue fits our high-class, top-dollar taste

Re: Future Cruise Question
Either way I'd be happy. I would like to discuss or hear your thoughts on the route for the spring cruise. I would like to go out to western MN.

Re: Future Cruise Question
My only concern with premade, catered food, would be those people who have certain food allergies (like myself). If someone needed an item without a certain ingredient, they couldn't get it in a buffet.
As long as there were choices for all participants, I wouldn't mind paying the few extra bucks and having the extra time to get back on the road.

Re: Future Cruise Question
Buffet would be pretty nice, but polishmafia raises a good point.
closer to spring, if we go with the buffet, we'll have to be sure everyone posts up their food allergies or something.

Spam is actually good, and cooking food on our exhaust manifolds is a cool idea.

You have raised a good point. If we go this route I will post the menu or potential menus in advance to make sure it'll work for people.

Re: Future Cruise Question
If people don't mind me asking, what types of food/ingredients is everyone allergic to?

Re: Future Cruise Question
I'm allergic to wheat. Technically gluten, which is in a protein of wheat.
Easiest thing to ask a potential catering/buffet company is "Do you offer gluten free items?" If they don't know what you're talking about, find another company.

Re: Future Cruise Question
Got it!
Say it was a simple meal like cold-cut deli sandwhich bar and/or BBQ pork sandwiches, coleslaw and/or potato salad, baked beans, potato chips, fruits/veggies, and some cookies; would that work around the allergies and give people enough choices?

Re: Future Cruise Question
I'm allergic to catered food, salad forks, and some Kevin Bacon movies.
Great idea though, with having a catered meal. I could about imagine the hassle of getting food for such a large group at a restaraunt.
Hope you come out west, it'd be nice to not have a road trip to go on a road trip.
