So I was at the local rice killer meet here in Dallas (not lame like the MN, this one has exotics and whatnot) and I saw an older gentleman standing next to an Evo X with some funny looking side skirts.
At any rate i walked up to him and asked him what he had, "just a few bolt ons?" And he very politely said, yeah I have put some stuff on it since i bought it.
He then went on to tell me it's a prototype HKS FQ400, one of only 400 LHD Evo X's shipped to the UK and one of 111 of the FQ400's. It has a built HKS bottom end, stock turbo, HKS intercooler, intercooler pipes, an HKS BOV recirculating, Jotech custom built cams (a shop by my house), etc. When he dyno'd it here after the cams it made 390WHP/420TQ and does a quarter mile in 10.8. The computer/sat nav detects via GPS (kind of like the GTR35) and starts keeping track of lap times via the GPS for you, I guess that's an HKS addon or he thought so.
In addition to all of this it still has the HKS/Mitsu 36,000 mile warranty and if anything goes wrong they just ship a new power plant here to the states. He knows a guy at HKS Europe and I guess there were 6 left over and he acquired it from his friend at a premium.
It still has the stock exhaust/suspension because he has a 996 that's already dropped and loud as hell and "he's getting too old to have a DD like that".
Figured you guys would find that interesting, I was kind of blown away and obviously asked him a lot of questions. I have his e-mail address and he's going to send me proof of his purchase and his time slips
Peace,
Shawn
