Steps to get the car to idle correctly

Alright, before the build I got a GM MAF and an EPROM ecu with a chip for the 780cc's it has now, it ran GREAT.

Now it has a 9.5:1 2.3L w/BC280's turning an SC61.

3000-8000 RPM the cars pulls CRAZY, im extremely happy with how fast the car is.....and thats on 10PSI.

As soon as I get the car running correctly, I will start the e85 conversion process and run 30PSI.

but right now, below 3000 RPM the car is a DOG, feels like its running on 2 cylinders, i can get it to idle with my right foot, its tricky.

no check engine light

I have adjustable cam gears, I have no freaking clue what to do with them, would adjusting the cams at all contribute to a more stable idle?

Re: Steps to get the car to idle correctly

I think the intake cam was a half tooth off, is there a way to see when the intake valves should open with the BC280?

Yes, you should have got a cam spec card in the box with the bc's. Of if you visit their website I'm sure they have the info on the cam and the degree it opens. Check that stuff out.

Re: Steps to get the car to idle correctly

Before I can start troubleshooting my idle, I needed to finish my exhaust, it was just a 3" straight pipe.

When we finished welding it up, I wanted to hear what the car sounded like with the quiet muffler. So i got in the car and turned it on...but I didnt have to hold down on the gas, it idled! WTF!

so we raised it up, while running, and opened the exhaust shutter, the car died!

The additional back pressure must have something to do with keeping the car alive while idling!
