Ill Egl
Figured I'd post up a Project Log now that I'm almost done with this setup..For this year!
Couple of years ago I bought this car online in Fargo. Knew it needed some work and I was looking for a project car. I drove it for almost 6 months once! Then I swapped trannys. After I swapped that I decided to park it and tear it apart for a 6-bolt swap on it after only 100,000mi. I bought a stocker rebuild to get me around for now while I work and save for my next engine which will have all the bells and whistles and hopefully a 60mm +. FP Green or Bigger I suppose.
I'll admit I'm not the greatest driver and I've never owned 'nor drove a car with 300 horsepower. I'm really hoping I can get this thing around there on this setup and get lots of practice in driving. I don't plan on blowing the motor up but I also don't expect it not to. I want to push this Turbo/Engine combo to its limit.
Car Specs:
1993 Eagle Talon TSi
105,000mi. White/Black
No P/S,ABS,Cruise,A/C,Emissions rem.
SGH Race Engines Rebuilt 6-Bolt Shortblock
FP Race Exhaust Manifold (Uncoated)
FP 18G Turbo
2.5" Catback(Looking to go 3")
All new OEM Timing Components
ARP Head Studs
Cometic HeadGasket
Gates Radiator Hoses
P.E. Kevlar Belt
Punishment FMIC Street Kit
7bolt Head
2g MAF [COLOR=Green](Need to wire in/get a pigtail for 2g in a 1g)
Still Need an Intake!! (Help Me Out!! 1g w/ 2gmaf intake no ABS no Cruise w/ Recirc!!)
Stock 1g BOV (Crushed)
TeamRip Engineering Stage 2 AWD Transmission
Redline Shockproof/BG Synchro Shift Drivetrain Fluids
Fidanza Lightweight Flywheel
Centerforce DF Clutch (Probably going to switch to Competition Clutch or a Southbend. Still undecided, looking for something streetable and can also handle a bit of track. I'm open to suggestions!)
Fidanza ShortThrow Shifter (Riciest thing I have..)
Eprom ECU with a clean board and a nice little socket
DSMLink Logging Software
Autometer Carbon Fiber -30/30 Boost Gauge(Waiting to purchase EGT,Electronic Oil Pressure,)
Still need a Wideband O2(I'm researching my shit first and I can't decide on one)
(Still looking for a Laptop)
Fuel Lab FPR (Still need to purchase)
-6 AN Braided Lines (Just under hood not all the way back)
Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump w/ Rewire Kit (Still need to rewire)
FIC 850cc Injectors (I'm worried I will max these out...)
The Purpose: To have a reliable mid 300whp AWD DSM. I don't know what to expect out of this turbo, so I don't set my goals too high!
Still Need:
Wideband 02
AFPR
Spark Plug Wires
Intake for 2gMAS in a 1g (No Cruise/ABS) (BOV Recirc.)
2g MAF in a 1g Pigtail Harness
Plans: Cams, BC 272's or some FP2's. I was thinking one night if whether or not the 18G will spool fast as shit and be a problem with traction. Also, if it runs out of steam up-top cams wont hurt. After this setup and I save enough money I plan on going fully built 2.0 and a bigger turbo, along with a stage 3+ transmission.
I really don't even know, I'm over it. Car is fun as hell but it has been parked longer than I've driven it. Gets sickening not having a car. I decided to go girlscout with the stock 6bolt/18G because it add$ up really quick.
I'll get some pics up when I can. I'll be putting the turbo/manifold together soon here and I'm going to need some tips on how to get everything primed in the engine and turbo, so nothing is deprived of oil or so nothing go's metal/metal.
Comments and Suggestions Welcome!

Re: Ill Egl
Awesome! Nothing wrong with 300whp, that makes it faster than most other cars on the road, and fun as hell I might add! Good luck with the build, a stock 6-bolt build can go a loooong ways, just ask Shane!
Just get it running, get it tuned, and enjoy it once you get it there!

Except conquests with power of similar caliber. Anyway, sounds cool, and I think 300 hp is actually a conservative number "these days" and should last for a long time as long as you maintain things properly.
Good Luck!

Re: Ill Egl
I'm actually going to be depressed if all i get is 300whp.
On a side note for the project update; I missed the UPS call for delivery signature. Then I spotted the UPS guy parking across the street from work so I ran over and talked to him about it, he searched, no god damn box on the truck! WTF?!!?
So, he said he'll bring it into work for me tomorrow. Can't wait to have a turbo sitting on my desk.

Re: Ill Egl
Ya, I'd imagine with E85, cams, and that turbo you'll be able to do 300whp w/o too much trouble. Brownman/turbotalon1g on here has a big16g (not evo) w/ stock cams putting down 300whp on dyno dynamics.

Pics of the shortblock. Don't worry, it's no where near completion, I'll be going through and double checking all the shit I messed up and that valve cover is going in the trash.
Look at the valve cover, it says OH

Re: Ill Egl
Looks pretty! You should put a different oil feed line on for the turbo from the oil filter housing. It wouldn't hurt to get a plug in the dipstick hole too.

I have a line for the turbo to oil filter housing, I think. I got it with some stuff I bought from someone on here but I didn't know if it'd work or not so I'm going to get a new one. Only can find decent priced ones on eGay and I don't know if that's the best route. Link me and I'll buy it.
I have a dipstick/tube/o-ring on the way. Check out the waterpump, I don't think I have that tensioner arm in the right place!
I'm still doing research and shit to find out stuff, first engine I've ever worked on to this extent so it's all new to me. Before I owned a DSM the biggest thing I did was a fuel filter.

Nice work man. Keep going, slow steady progress, but get it by springtime so you can have some fun with us! Spring cruise in early April, dyno day in early May!

Re: Ill Egl
I really am pushing to get done by the cruise time, I really want to get in on one for once and I might be having a friend coming too. Figured it might be easier meeting you guys in an actual DSM than a Dodge Intrepid. Atleast I might fit in then.
I spend a few hours a day researching this shit but I'm still new to it all. I try, I try. I can take the criticism so if anyone has any. Shoot! I know this isn't the prettiest thing, or biggest, most powerful, but I could use all the help I can get!

Re: Ill Egl
That would be sweet if you get this done for the cruise.
I made 300whp last year on the B16G, it beat a lot of cars including some 400+ cars.
Anywho i have an oil feed line from the filter housing to the turbo for sale.

Re: Ill Egl
I just want torque. I could care less if I make 300hp.
I'm no Curt Brown, so I'm not planning on making 450whp on this pea shooter. I can't believe he made ~450whp on a 16g! DSMLink FTW!

Pics of it a few years ago on the Ice Dragstrip for the Local Snowmobile radar run. It's fun spinning through every gear!
Then Boom.
And don't mind the ricer windshield wiper on the one side. I am taking them both off, again! RainX FTW!

Re: Ill Egl
Just an update;
Been waiting on parts lately, I hate this part! I've been doing piddly shit for the last few days, such as porting out my 2g o2 housing(gasket matched it), cleaned my transfer case off.
Haven't done too much lately, I'm waiting on parts mainly. Have a new turbo feed line coming (sorry I didn't buy yours aaron, got a great deal on a new one), also a return line for the turbo, and a new coolant feed/return line.
Mainly I wanted to post this so I have some notes on what I need to do yet.
Buy/Make 2g MAF in a 1g Plug
Buy new air filter
Buy an intake (Dejon for a 2g maf in a 1g w/ BOV Return and no cruise)(BUY FROM Brian)
Buy a Driverside Axle(munch)
Buy a Headliner/Get mine reupholstered, or one at CD Sales
Buy a new valve cover(looking for the dude that CNC shaves them, PM Me)
Buy new rotors all around (Drilled EBC's)
Buy new Pads
Buy IEFPR Kit with SS Lines
Buy catch can setup(Thinking I'm going to use a Monster Energy Drink can and some Russell Proclassic(?) hoses with a Kracka Vent
Get the B-Pillar from previous owner
Install the Prothane bushings into the 2 remaining mounts (2 are installed)
Install FMIC
Set the timing
Copper spray Exhaust manifold gasket(?)
That's all I can think of for now, just putting this down as notes to myself.

Highly doubt it. I'd love to, but to be honest, the way things are going, I doubt I'd get in for a tune @ DB by then. I'd love to, but this is my first build and lots of piddly shit keeps coming up. I'm doing my best though.

Re: Ill Egl
Why do you need a new headliner? Is yours just sagging? Mine was, I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics, got some Loctite Heavy Duty glue, and some new headliner material (they have black, tan, and gray). I spent $20 on an oversize piece, and $15 for the spray adhesive.
If you really want some one to mill those letters off, let me know. I have access to CNC mills! Wouldn't it be faster to get it close with an angle grinder?then maybe hand sand the rest?
