Turbo's Leaking

It was leaking from the compressor housing. I fixed that, now it seems it has a small leak coming out of the oil return line which means is leaking through the shaft seals. Is it normal for this to happen, could it be because there's no oil in it right now.

Re: Turbo's Leaking

Sorry about the picture that is the leak I was having trouble with before. Alittle copper spray and it seal right up. The problem I have now is when I pressuize it, it will blow air into the center cartridge. Which means the shaft seal is leaking. My question is can some blowbye be tolerated, and does the turbo being dry right now contribute to it leaking? Also this turbo does not smoke.

Re: Turbo's Leaking

It would need oil in it to seal well. There will be a small gap in the bearings for the oil to be in.

Re: Turbo's Leaking

the compressor housing on our v-trim is also leaking, from the exact same spot, if we fix it, i will also look for leaks through the oil line.

I assume it would be best to do a boost test when the turbo is hot and full of oil.

This is a M-Trim, ran the car today then tested for leaks none at all held 14 psi for the longest I've ever seen one hold. Also loosened the wastegate and the spike went away. :woot: NOw to fix the massive oil leak. Damn SLOWBOY
