Street Racing Aftermath

Well with the Spring season peeking its head around the corner rather quickly, street racing will probably begin to show up as more disscussed topic again. I've never been one to really promote or oppose street racing, but with the horror stories of street racing showing up and more and more, I'm definitely starting to rethink any sort of support I've ever had for street racing. Especially after my latest reading......Looky

Fuckin punks, I have been a street racer since before I could drive, watchin my buddies tinker with their hondas trying to get a little more horse, but unlike some people we have 'moral rules'

We race late at night, in the country, most often on abandoned roads, or roads by my friends houses where we can block it off. There are reasons, you dont just start racing in the middle of town, espescially it raises attention and is more dangerous than any of us care to risk. Again its the few that will ruin it for everyone else. If I was that guy, those two would be toast. If she comes out of it anything less than perfect, you would find me going down the street with a flamethrower until I found them. I hope he makes them pay.

down here in missouri there are a lot of crotch rocket accedents, street racing has kind of died down here. our track is open three days a week, so no one feels the need to do it. and im talking about fast cars, the hondas still race but they never get to the speed limit before the next light anyways.

Use your heads, it's not worth it. I've been into performance cars, wether building or racing them since I could drive and I have rarely ever raced anybody on the street. But unlike Raptor, I didn't have to start out on the Model T

. The few times I had street raced, we were out in an isolated area on a long country road with no cross roads at 3:00 in the morning. But in a crowded city area it's just :slap: "STUPID" :slap: . These days are hard on the street scene because of the stupidity people have in regards to other peoples safety. That's why law enforcement is cracking down on it. Take it to the track and play it safe. The few dollars it cost to get into the track are alot less than the fines, towing, impound, lawyer fees, etc. you will pay if you get caught. Hell if you are racing for money, make the looser pay the entrance fee

her car isn't even damaged that much, i've seen worse accidents where the people walked away. was she wearing a seatbelt? if she wasn't then i don't feel sorry for her, it's her own fault for nosing out into a yellow light anyway.

but it does suck to get hurt, so i gotta recognize.

yeah that is why i dont street race and people in winona didnt disrespect me for that because me jake dsmstyle dsmchick and a few others remember how close a friend of ours in his car went off the road and was exremely lucky. plus here in winona last year two people took it into their own hands to do a street race near the town and one person was killed because of their accident.

Been there, done that. It didn't matter where I was I almost killed about 20 people when I lost my brakes. I'm not telling the story again, but point is I don't condone it. And I won't allow it in public view on this site. I don't race nor will I put time into even watching them anymore. It's not safe, People have died at the track in a controlled enviroment. If you think at any point a controlled state on the street is ever safe, you need to think again.

you can choose to not race on the street or track, and you will live longer, most likely. but anything that involves high horsepower and a contest of some sort, there are eventually going to be injuries or deaths. and people are drawn to contests so it's basically inevitable. i think the whole blocking off a country road thing is a great idea, i love racing, but i love to keep myself and others safe, that's why i know what my car can do and i don't try to push it.

i spose now i do have to push it cause the motor's broken. :stick:

This is definately a sad story, I hope she recovers and the morons get what they have coming. I won't go into a big debate on street racing again, everyone has there own opinions and experiences to back up there own feelings on the subject, trying to change it either direction is a somewhat futile effort. The fact is, most of the guys I know that dislike street racing will be the first to tell some street war story and just as quick to jump in a vehicle when they are under the influence or not stop someone who is. You can get killed anywhere and you can be stupid anywhere, the trick is to make sure that wherever you are and whatever you are doing, you only put yourself and others who want to be there at risks that are acceptable to you and them. Anything else is just stupid, that goes for the track, street, bikes, boats or otherwise and yes even drifting in the snow.

And Vicious, model T's rule!

If you race for money, you cannot race at the track. One 12 second pass will kill off your races for the rest of the year. No more easy money. Unlike the other states, we have to drive an hour and forty five minutes to get to the closest track (MN). Not worth driving there for alot of the competition. If you were racing for money, would you want the buddy you beat at the track telling everyone in the city that your car is fast? I know I wouldn't.

I guess that I'd rather not kill or hurt someone, that to make some gas money off some punk who is no better than you. Some people need to get their egos in check before they get into a vehicle, and think that there car is actually more important than a living person.

Who said that their car is more important than a person? Not me. What is the point in modifying a car if you never use it? You have a 1g yourself right? Why did you buy it? Hopefully not because you think it is pretty. And we all know how reliable these cars are. We do not chose races in the middle of a busy city. Everything is late at night and in more isolated area. The only people there are people who want to be there. If I had my way, it would just be me and the other car at the site. Spectators suck.

Who said racing for gas money anyways? I have alot of time and money into my car and it is time it starts paying its own way. :blink:

I don't think it matters if it's at the track or on the street, if your car is fast, the word will get out about it.

Not trying to rip on you directly dude. I have street raced before. I just don't really think I will again unless I'm really not thinking. But dude, when I'm talking about street racing, I mean like down cedar ave, and 35w. If your on a closed isolated road, I don't really see the harm taking it up to like 100 or so.

You shoudl be doign this because you love the hobby. If you don't love it, it's not pure. I don't even own a car, I don't make any fucking money, but I love what I do. I love the site and the support for the site by close friend and friendly locals. I love my job, my shop, owned with my friends. It's working hard and showing somthing for it. It's not about the money. It's about doign what you love. Some people nickle and dime it and do it for all the wronf reasons. Some people do it cause they love it and pay the price to do it the way they really feel will show themselves through their car.

closest tracks to me are 3 hours away. PIA, Firebird, and Carlsbad, all about 3 hours away. And because of that I used to street race a lot. One day the cops came, I luckily had one of the fastest cars out there, so I outran everyone else and the cops and got away. But after that, I decided no more street racing. We still have one abandoned road that we go to after we install something to quick test things out, but that's about as far as my street racing goes. I don't think street racing is a horrible horrible thing, as long as it's done some where isolated from anything else. But that's just my view, and it is a bummer what happened to that girl.
