Junkyard find!
My roomate and I were out picking up parts for my build (new speed sensor) and he got a call from a honda dealer because he is looking for a S2k, the guy tells us he has 2 on his lot and they will finance anyone, but its like 30 min away, so we decide to go out there and check it out. Well we get up there and sure enough at the dealer there is no freakin S. we bitch out the manager and tell him he needs to give us gas money, they write my roomate a voucher for the gas and tell us to go to this mobil gas station up the street a ways.
So we leave and get gas (10 gallons of premium for free woot!). we end up taking a different way to the freeway and drive past this junkyard and i joke to him, hey maybe there are some parts there for my car. he asks, "wanna stop?" i shrug and say sure.
we get there and they charge 2 bucks at the door i look at my buddy and this other guy says "i come here all the time, you never know what parts you will find in this place" and so we had to leave and go get cash. we come back and pay and take a walk, I am looking for a new throttle body for my car. i see a 3000gt and open the hood, looks a lot like my throttle body... hmmm. then i call chris (s2kracka) and he says he doesnt know if it will bolt up so we go lookin some more.
Then there she is... total sight for sore eyes. a 1g. i tap on the hood and it sounds empty. in the trunk is an 4g63 motor. looks like the throttle body is a bit damaged so i decide what the hell lets pop the hood. sure enough another motor. this time it looks as if the throttle body is in good shape, it was only missing the TPS but i figured my stock 2g one should bolt up. so i pick it up for 20 bucks and we are good to go. Tonight i cleaned it up and it looks brand new, then i painted it black (so it matches the paint scheme) and it looks perfect.
Anyways sorry for the long story but its just funny how some things work out, go up to look for an S and come back with a upgrade in the TB.
BTW i never knew that the 1g tb was a 2.5" inlet that just uses a silicone coupler. pretty cool and it fits to the magnus intake manifold MUCH better then my stock 2g one.

Good find. How much you think they'd charge you for one of those motors?

Re: Junkyard find!
Tom, a true DSMer finds a way to get both those blocks out the door for under $50.

Re: Junkyard find!
I could have gotten them both out the door but i would have had to stuff them under my shirt, i just dont think i am strong enough for that yet.

Yea Me Jesse and Bucky once pulled a 6 bolt 2.4 block by hand from the local yard and only had to pay $30. Ive also gotten a 1g TB for $5 there. BTW the Throttle body that goes on with a coupler is probly a 1g Non turbo throttlebody still a good find though.

Re: Junkyard find!
Yes the Turbo TB's have a that Elbo that bolts with the TB. The one you have Tom is off a Nonturbo. But still a good find man. All the parts I got from my local junk yard I spend 50 dollars. And some screws I pocketed...hahaha I agree with Aj could of walked out with them motors for less then you thought.

Re: Junkyard find!
Yeah it was off of a 1g NT. but that should work right? it bolts right up and the plugs are the same.
I would rather have the coupler fit mainly because it will be easier to fit the piping with the magnus.

Re: Junkyard find!
I thought it would be something better as well. My friend found a 90 EPROM at rosemount, got it for $10 and sold it for $250.

Re: Junkyard find!
I live in Big lake and I dont bother with Right Away. They dont treat there costomers very well IMO. Everytime Ive gone there they are ass holes. its to hard for them to walk over to the computer to check for a part. If you want deal go to Jerrys auto salvage in Big Lake.

Re: Junkyard find!
My best "find" at a local salvage yard:
4 bolt rear end (complete)
eprom ecu (91-94)
awd transmission w/t-case (shifted perfectly)
complete head with intake manifold and throttle body
14b turbocharger
A few other misc pieces.
Grand total: $165
I think I've pulled 3 4 bolt rear ends out of salvage yards years ago. They ranged from $16-60 .
