Fuel pressure lines

Dont feel like typing much so im gonna go half assed. Car takes forever to start in the cold. I replaced the coolant temp sensor. Im not sure if the wires are still good in the car, they look old and im not sure if its getting a good connection. But when i turn over the car. The fuel pressure regulator gauge jumps up and down from 0 to 30 and when i let off on the key it drops back down to 0. Im pretty sure that it should stay pressurized after i let off on the key. Any one have any answers to my questions?

My guage hangs there a little but than goes back to zero once the key is out of the ignition. How is your charging system?

I don't feel like typing much, so I'll give a half assed answer.

It sounds like you have a fuel pressure issue.

Honestly, I would check your fuel pump, mpi relay, and if it isn't a fuel related issue, the ignition transistor can cause a slow start issue.

Fuel pump is brand new. i think it might be one of the lines running from the top of the pump assembly. Or i was thinking fuel filter might be bad. Not sure though. Ill take a look at the MPI relay and the ignition transistor. I might just go pick up a new relay.

Did this happen after the pump install? It sounds like a fuel pressure issue, bad pump/wiring, bad o-ring from pump to fuel sending unit, fuel leak, bad regulator. How about the FP gauge it self, is that broken?

Fuel filter would not cause that issue, it would be a consistant lack of fuel pressure.
O-ring is a good possibility as well, good call John.

It happened after i did an engine swap. Maybe the O rings on the injectors? Wouldnt i see fuel shooting from one? Maybe i should switch to a stock fpr.

Is the fuel pressure gauge electric or one just screwed into the FPR?

No, if it's not leaking externally, it's fine. You should always teflon tape threads, but that's a different thread. You're obviously losing pressure real fast which shouldn't happen. I'd look for a leaking injector or a bad check valve on your fuel pump. Except for an external leak, nothing else should cause immediate fuel pressure loss.

It is a brand new fuel pump but maybe something is wrong with it, maybe i should go back to the stock one. This one im using is a 190. When i let off the key the fuel pump keeps running for a second, like it should. But its hard to hear it while im turning it over, maybe its not pumping enough while im turning it over. Ill switch back to stock real quick and see what happens.

Did you lubricate the O-Ring on the fuel pump before you installed it? That is a fairly common spot for people to lose pressure at. I'd suggest looking at that and replacing that O-ring, they aren't that much money anyways.

What does the ignition transistor look like. I have something here from my pile 'o parts. It says Power TR Unit. Im guessing thats it.
