Flywheel bolts are stuck.... help?

Hey guys, got my engine out and mostly disassembled. I am having one problem though, I cant for the life of me get the bolts off of the flywheel and the nut holding the crank sprocket on.

The block is sitting on the headgasket surface now with a breaker bar on the crank sprocket nut and I was using the 1/2 ratchet to work on the flywheel bolts. When I turn the ratchet, the breaker bar hits the table and I would be able to put some torque on it, but when I try to put a lot on, the breaker bar just lifts the block up. The Haynes manual says to "wedge a screwdriver in the ring gear teeth to jam the flywheel." Well, I tried to wedge a screw driver into the timing belt and balance shaft sprockets and I couldnt find a spot to wedge a screwdriver on the flywheel and none of it seemed to work. So what "gear teeth" are the talking about? Where would I wedge the screwdriver? Any other tips to get the flywheel and/or crank sprocket bolt? Thanks guys.

Oh yeah, we dont have access to a impact wrench.

My advice is still a good impact. Load it up in the back of a truck or car and go to a shop. Give the tech 10 bux to break them all loose and go home and finish them.

You should have broke them loose with the block still in the car.

Seriously though, bring it to a shop, it isnt that heavy and I know some dude with an impact would be willing to score a quick 10 bux.

Never thought of that, I think I will give that a go. There is a shop like 6 blocks from where it is so it shouldnt be to hard. The crank sprocket nut wouldnt come loose this summer with an impact, and I dropped the bottom end and tranny at once so I couldnt get at the flywheel. Thanks man.

-Hit the flywheel bolts with a deadblow hammer
-Try slightly tightening the bolts and then loosing them. This is how I always get spark plugs out that refuse to loosen directly.

if you don't want to move it a lot of shops have portable stuff. I had one in Cannon Falls come out and break a stubborn axle nut for $20. (I promptly bought myself a compressor after...)

If you can bring it over in a truck or something, I'll bust 'em loose for $10 cash.
