Shifter cable mounting

Where the shifter cables bolt to the bracket on the transmission, are there those special rubber washers on each side or just one side? Or does it just assemble in this order: main bracket on tranny-shifter cables-rubber washers-bolt?

Re: Shifter cable mounting

I believe they sit on one side, the outside after the cable, but I cant remember exactly, how many rubber washers do you have? You're talking about just connecting the cables, and not the entire bracket right?

Re: Shifter cable mounting

There are two brackets, one is mounted to the cables, one mounted on the tranny. I used a rubber washer on each side of the cable bracket, as I had 4. None of my other 1Gs had four, i just remember them having two, and I don't remember how its really supposed to be.

I believe you did it right then. I vaguely recall someone telling me that the cables or the brackets on some of the 1g years were different or something weird like that. But yea, if you have the bracket with 4 washers, then one on each side.
