Linoln LS.. Opinions?
Reality has struck and when I turn 21( 7 months) I will be buying a newer, different style of vehicle. My car insurance will dramatically decrease. I've had nothing but DSM's. I think it's time to get into something a little less sporty and a little more practical and comfortable. I do like my performance though. So a Lincoln LS is a very interesting idea to me. 2000-2002 seem like the best bang for my buck. 03 has more power and is overall nicer, I just don't have 25K+ to get one. You can typically find a real low mile 2001 LS for under 20k. I just want to hear what people think / know about this car. I've read alot of reviews and information but there is nothing better than first hand opinions! If you've owned one PLEASE chime in here. If you haven't but have something else to say, feel free! I am pretty anti-Ford so this is definitly going out on a limb!
This is the site I've been reading on.

I'm sure he would see the thread sometime. I don't wanna bother him VIA PM. He seems to have good taste in cars so that's a good thing!

Re: Linoln LS.. Opinions?
I'm tempted to pick up an LS in the future as well. I've looked them over and talked a bit with JET, and if what you're looking for is that type of car, you can't beat the LS. There isn't much else out there that can come compare to the used ones, and they're a ton cheaper than other cars in its class.

Re: Linoln LS.. Opinions?
I have a 2001 Lincoln LS. Sport edition with the V8. I really like it for a daily driver. Very comfortable, but still on the sporty side. The V8 loves to rev (little 3.9l) and has pretty good power. Gas mileage isn't great, but other than that I love it. I got mine in January for $10k with 76k miles on it (ebay steal).
The car is really a jaguar, so don't worry about it being a Ford. It has more gadgets than I have seen on a car. Probably the coolest thing is if you hold the unlock button on the key fob it will roll down the windows on the car to cool it off. I roll them down before leaving my desk and the car is near ambient when I get out to it. Auto on lights, auto on windshield wipers (it senses the rain!), 2 person memory seats, heated seats, etc.

It's a automatic w/ manual option. Slap stick style. There is no clutch though, you're right about that.

Re: Linoln LS.. Opinions?
Yeah, the manual shifting is pretty damn good too. You put it in a gear and it stays there. Not like some of them that will still shift 500 rpm before redline.
Mine is a black one. The sport edition doesn't have the chrome on the bumpers, so you can see the difference.

Re: Linoln LS.. Opinions?
the only thing I heard about them was told to stay away from was the first year v8's.
apparently the trannys were hit and miss.

Re: Linoln LS.. Opinions?
The first year of the more powerful engine was the tranny issue, so don't get a 2003. I chose the 2001 because the CD changer in the 2000 was in the trunk or the glove box (which takes up most of it). The 2001 you get a 6 disk in dash changer, which is sweet.

Re: Linoln LS.. Opinions?
I just test drove a 2002 LS V8. It had just the basic tranny, not the slap shift style. She moved pretty decent I guess. I'm used to DSM's so it seemed a bit slow but it responded well and didn't hesitate to down shift. The car is fucking AMAZING to just roll in though. Very comfortable and convenient. This one was 43k miles @ $16,500. Pretty steep compaired to other things I've seen online but it was immaculate, not one ding on it. It was beige =/ I prefer silver or black. Even though black is a nightmare to keep clean. It was all and all what I expected.

Re: Linoln LS.. Opinions?
MNSC offered their opinions about cars that are similar to the LS. This is what I had to say about that. Feel free to drop more cars to look into. Even though I'm single track minded right now, I do know that there is other cars out there.
-Jag's cost too much to fix
-Lexus IS300 and the infinity are too much to insure ( I do really like the Lexus IS300, I've driven one and it was very nice!)
-I'm not a fan of the 300M. I have driven one and it was quick and comfortable but there was just something I didn't like about it. I certainly don't dig the resemblance of a newer intrepid.
-Mercedies C240 is out of my price range and the repairs / insurance would not be good. HOWEVER, I think I do like that car a little better than a Lincoln LS.
-I'd really love to get any newer BMW but expensive to fix and probably expensive to insure.
-I have never been in an Audi or VW that i felt comfortable in. Those cars didn't think of me when making them I'm long.. leg's do NOT fit well. Head is close to roof etc. I hate the interior.
-CTS = out of my price range. They do not have any within 50 miles of me that cost 15k or less.
Really, in the end.. all of these cars listed are sporty / luxurious. They are all in all nice cars and very common options. The one difference is, Lincoln is Lincoln and clearly the LS does not hold it's value quite like the imports do. Usually people see this as a bad thing but it makes things easier for me in my current situation. I found one I really like but it MIGHT be a little too expensive since I'm getting a full extended bumper to bumper warantee. I'm undecided.

Re: Linoln LS.. Opinions?
Yeah I love the LS's. I tried really hard to talk my dad into one but he found a good deal on a different car.
On of my brother's friends has one for his DD and he threw N20 on it and is running 13's (He may have a few other things too but not much)
