Need A Dry Place

Hey everyone. I know I'm new here to dsmstyle. But I need your guy's and gal's help. I am in the process of getting my car running. But I have my broke ass integra in my garage. And as you know, it dumped a shit ton of snow.

What I'm asking is....Is somebody willing to lend their garage out for a day so I can get my car running? All I need to do is replace the oil pan gasket (which I have), and re-time it. I have Tuesday's, Thursday's and Sunday's off from work. I also need someone to help me time it. I can't get the exhaust cam to line up completely square to the intake cam. I know I'm asking for a lot here, but I can provide some sort of compensation for whoever helps me. It's not driveable at this point for I leak oil whenever it runs. But I can get it out there. Thanks so much!

Re: Need A Dry Place

Ok, this is fun.

Symptoms: A BONE STOCK 1990 Laser RT with the oil pan gasket leaking, timing off?, no longer boosting?

So LingLing dropped the car off and we didnt get to work on it till friday, he DROVE it into my garage......

Oil was plastered everywhere on the timing side of the engine bay (and the timing belt was heavily coated (pooling of oil on the belt) in oil.

Ok, so i started to wipe the timing belt off and the belt ALMOST FELL OFF THE CAM GEARS.....it was that loose

there was 6QTS of oil in the car

the low oil light sensor was unplugged

the "halo" of throttle/cruise control cables that normally takes up the top of the engine bay was not there, when whoever put the new head, the cables where UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOIL AAAANNNNDDDD ABOVE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD BRACKET, so it was COMPLETELY STUCK. so I asked if the gas pedal flet funny and sure enough, the pedal had a tendency to stick completely to the floor.

Oh hey! look! the BOV is mounted BACKWARDS and the pipe to the 1G intake is blocked off.

the 90 oil cooler lines were PINCHED CLOSED there was NO WAY oil was going through the cooler (due to some offroading? bad placement of the lines mitsubishi)

ok, so the turbo worked fine and it all of a sudden stopped....thats alot of play in that 14b.....hmmmm....WFT.....WHY IS THE OIL FEED LINE FOR THE TURBO NOT CONNECTED TO ANYTHING?!?!?!???!??!....oh wow, someone plugged the hole coming out of the head but didnt bother to connect the turbo......I ASSUME the turbo is dead.

but the ecu is fine

Re: Need A Dry Place

I think next time LingLing decides to buy a DSM he should take one of us to go and look at it. I would of slapped the last guy who own this car straight in the forehead and call him a dumbass. Thank goodness you got a chance to look at his car. It would of took him forever to figure why his car ran so shitty.

Re: Need A Dry Place

Alrighty, the Lazer has been driving for several days, and since I got paid today (shep tranny fund) for my work, I have decieded to declare the project a success....granted LingLing is driving around without any form of boost control....overall the car drives, no leaks, new turbo, and is timed properly. woot.

So here are the pics.

A pic of the completed engine bay

Remember what I said about no oil line connected to the turbo?

This is EXACTLY what we found when we took off the O2 housing

Let this be a lesson to those who dont know what the hell they are doing
