I need a few people (at least 4) that can lift more than a sack of potatoes (this leaves AJ out) to come to the shop at the same time and help me put the compressor up in the loft. It weighs 290 lbs and is sitting on a pallet. I am thinking if we get Enes to come down with his big bad dodge, we could back it up and lift it to the truck then from the truck to the loft. Shouldn't be too bad. Friday or Saturday would be perfect.

This would be a huge favor to me which I will happily return. Anyone up for it?

Okay, Allan was still logged in on my system. That request comes from me. He wasn't picking on himself and he definately didn't learn to spell that fast :stick:

Give me a call when you guys figure out a time. I have the rest of the week off.

BTW, Allan isn't even out of bed, or I mean off of the closet floor, yet.

I will be stopping in some time on Friday, if I am there when you guys are doing this, I'd be glad to help.

I will probably be there around noon-1.

I am off the whole weekend Mike, just give me a buzz and give me the heads up and I can run up there and give you guys a hand. If I can find Justin I am sure I could drag him along also. I think he is drunk in a ditch somewhere cause I haven't heard from him in a few days. And he hasn't been home even??? :razz2:

Very cool. I will talk to Enes and see if he will swing in for a few with the truck and go from there. That should more than cover it though. Especially if JET is recovered from the ditch. Thanks in advance for the help!

If we could find a way to support it, I have a 2 ton come-along that could help. I just don't see where we could hang it from though.

Whatever time works best for you Enes, Saturday would be great, you can pick the time and we will just plan it for then.

As for welding aluminum, if it is clean, it TIGs nicely. It does take some practice, but can be learned fairly quickly. If you want to bring the stuff you need down, I will go ahead and weld it for you.
Aluminum is welded fine with MIG, Stick and Oxy-Acetylene if those are the only things available. MIG is not nearly as picky as TIG about cleanliness, but requires a pretty decent machine capable of spray-transfer, something with a short length gun or push-pull setup. It also helps to use argon+helium for MIG. With Stick, the electrode consumes at an insane rate and is not very easy to control, but in a pinch or where access is difficult, it can work pretty well. Using Oxy-Acetylene is tricky but works fine. The beads don't look as nice as MIG or TIG, and you get the fun of preparing the material with flux, but it is a decent thing to know either way. Hope that answers some questions for you. Let me know if you want more specifics on anything.
